I've got a dilemma (the end)

Postby Smeghead » 28 Apr 2009, 04:10

I’ve got a dilemma.
A pigeon couple is building a nest on a edge above the walkway just outside my apartment.

The thing is that the landlord doesn’t want us feeding birds and seems to be against them.

And I don’t want the birds to come to harm, or something to happen to their nest or possible eggs.

Also since only students live on this floor, none of them will be here during the summer so the birds won't bother anyone.

Should I report it or what?...

If you don't see them you won't know they're there. *wink wink*

Don't feed them, but let them sit there.

Pigeons? I didn't see no stinkin pigeons.

Pigeons are really messy, I can understand why your landlord doesn't want them to roost there, but if they have already nested, it's really cruel to move them.

Leave them I say. If someone else wants to do something about it they will, and if not they can live happily in their new nest.

Punch them in the face until they pass out. Then move them to someplace safer like a tree or statue.

I've had a change of heart have a pigeon pie with boiled pigeon eggs with bread and butter or toast and butter soldiers to dip into the runny yolk.

Ignore them, the semester is almost over. If there's no one to bother them over the summer, no problem. If the landlord really didn't want them there, he'd have put in chicken wire or a net to prevent them from nesting. It's his fault for not taking preventative measures.

Tell the building manager. You most definitely don't want it to come back and bite you in the butt.

Yeah, like Cake says, cover your own ass because there's an abritrary imposition from your landlord against animals that are only doing what is in their nature and which aren't hurting anyone. Remember, you don't want to have to be personally responsible on the off chance that something actually does crop up as a problem because of this!

/sarcasm

They're goddamn birds. Let them be, they'll let you be. If they become a legitimate problem, report them. If not, live and let live. Turn a blind eye out of basic kindness and decency. How someone chooses to treat innocent animals is very little different from how someone chooses to treat innocent people.

~Alja~

Addendum: Siobhan, that looks like an apartment complex hallway, open to the outside world. But that's just what it looks like. Although if fairly large birds are actually managing to get inside a closed building, I think the larger problem would be that the building has massive holes in it allowing them in, rather than the birds themselves.

Well the landlord showed up today and removed the nest (I didn't tell him, but someone apparently did).

Hopefully it was to early for the birds to have had any eggs yet and that they might have time to build a new nest somewhere.

the landlord had one of the pigeons shot as they keept returning and trying to rebuild their nest in the same place -.-

And then he had to clan the pigenon blood off my door...

I feel sorry for the other pigeon, but at least it's still alive...

So I guess that concludes this story -.-
