Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
You do realize that this many suggestions for buttons and pins is going to cause serious "Pieces of Flair" jokes right?

Self-fulfilling prophecy much?
I think somebody should get one good one in, and then we can move on.

Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
It's a reference to the movie Office Space wherein one of the characters worked for a restaurant that made their employees wear pieces of "flair" (buttons, pins, etc.) to "express their individuality." There were some memorable conversations about it & the unspoken minimum required pieces of flair.

If it helps you decide, I'd also like the 5-button logo set.
What about "Is it safe?"
Something with Mr. Balls-matron or "I am death, destroyer of balls"
Gibb!
Something related to Paul and his urge to improve things - Always upgrade everything

Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
I'll jump in to say I'm actually not that interested in a 5-button logo set. The single button LRR button Graham included in the original post is nice enough for me. Other buttons I'd buy:
Runners Logo (with or without the "Runners" name)
Iron Stomach Challenge Logo
NESBox 360
What about references to video buttons that stand on their own like with your t-shirts? "Talk Like a Pirate," "Rejected Wii Games," "NESBox 360," etc. They'd be funny enough on their own to be conversation-starters. Word of mouth promotion is free!
It would be special to have buttons exclusively available at live event appearances, too. "LRR Live!" buttons or something. Not that I'll ever be able to attend one, but if I *could*, it'd be something I'd love to have for bragging rights over all of the other jealous LRR fans.
I think an "all proceeds go to Child's Play" Desert Bus button would be a great idea either for now or come Desert Bus 3. "I watched 4 days of Desert Bus and all I got was this lousy button."

I think he was joking Evil Jim. At least I hope so, seeing as the best part of the flair thing was Jennifer Aniston's "Here's Your Flair!!!!!" towards the end.

Fix'd again.
I like the multi-button set that you put together to make one design.
Just wanted to throw that out there. I'm not such a good button-designer.
Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
While there are certainly a whole bunch of cool things in LRR history that might make good buttons, the ones I could see myself buying would be the dots-triangle logo and the Desert Bus logo. That way, if someone asked me about them, I could direct them to a website instead of foolishly trying to act out an entire sketch or something by way of explanation.

It didn't read like a joke to me. Ah, well, nonverbal comm, what can you do.tak197 wrote:I think he was joking Evil Jim. At least I hope so
Assuming you meant it...
The reason for the whole Flair subplot was to make a point about 'fun' workplaces. It's nice to work where everyone's having a good time, but the more you try to force that on your employees the worse the chance they'll be won over by it.
It's the same sort of point made by David Brent/Michael Scott.
Assumption disengaged.

Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
Before this gets into a sidetracked conversation, The Office is not so much a good example of a "fun" workplace so much as it's a boss who thinks it's a "fun" workplace. Like replacing Lumberg with the manager at Shenanigans or whatthefuck that place was named. This of course is completely different than the "themed" workplaces, like the 50's diner in town that has the Flair thing going for it, but it's a 50's burger place, so it works.
As for buttons, what about using some of Tensen's designs, like gorgeous and Geometry Wars.

Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
I LOVE buttons, and I wholeheartedly approve of LRR ones!!
The logo button set and the 64k-in-a-fisheye-lens are ones I would definitely get (I also really like the Riley & Rodriguez "Outstanding!" idea )

Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
A button with a picture of when Matt and James 'kissed' from the last CommodoreHustle would be hilarious. You don't have to do it if you don't want to. Or maybe you do want to make this button...

That's actually exactly the point I was making. The restaurant from Office Space and the boss from The Office's efforts to be a 'cool, funny boss' are very similar ideas.tak197 wrote:Before this gets into a sidetracked conversation, The Office is not so much a good example of a "fun" workplace so much as it's a boss who thinks it's a "fun" workplace.
Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
Total fan of the LRR logo set. You could do a variation like having a button for each cast member looking in a direction, and when you form them up it looks like the Brady Bunch opening.
Also, I vote for "Use my goddamn toothpaste" on a button.
Edit: Shenanigans is from "super troopers", Chotchkie's is where Jennifer worked in "office space".

Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
I like the logo set too.
But I think the "LRR" logo from the old version of the site... The one where they're kinda overlapped. It'd be a good place to bring the image out.
Maybe an SED and Canadian Dental Approval Association
Ooh! Ooh!!!! The Canada Man C with Maple leaf
And I think a 64k-Related Pin...

A) I thought it was Sheniquah's at first, then I remembered that was the name of the restaurant my group created for an Economics project in high school. I've never seen Super Troopers.
B) The only thing about that Brady Bunch button is who would be "Anne B. Davis as Alice"? My vote is for Rosco with Alice's hairdo.
Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
For the logo set--
Would you prefer:
FIVE 1-inch buttons, three with one dot, one with a circle and one with a triangle.
OR
THREE 1-inch buttons, one with three dots, one with a circle and one with a triangle.
CHOOOOOSE!!

Now that I'm looking at them, I like this one better.

Re: Tell Me What You Want on a LRR Button
I like the five buttons, but the circle from the three button works better. You could put "Loading|Ready|Run|.|com" on the set too (each line separating each button).

Something like, THIS?!
Once again, only better, of course.

the five looks so much better then the plain three, but I like the three version with the title.
