Fallout Trilogy Collection

Postby ExtraSensory » 09 May 2009, 01:18

I just stopped by Target today and found the first 3 Fallout games (Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics) for PC for 20 dollars total. I've read about them a lot on wikipedia and such, but I'm pretty excited to actually play through them. I definitely dig outdated RPGs.
Anybody else played/playing?

I'm still playing through Fallout 2 myself, it's definitely something different having played F-3 first and then F-2 but I'm enjoying myself so far.

Just got to get a hold of F-1 and I'm set.

Damn I really want to play those games after getting into the baldurs gate tpye of RPG, yet my Target seems to not want to have something flying of the shelf.

If you want to buy the old Fallout games (trilogy? without part 3... ? ; ) ):
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/fallout
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/fallout_2
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/fallout_tactics

Available worldwide, no DRM and of course completely legal.
Oh, and they are 5.99 USD each. Quite reasonable price, if you ask me.
Can't take the sky from me. Again.

The first Fallout game I ever had was Fallout Tactics, when it was released. I really loved the setting and the humor and everything so I tried to track down Fallout 1 and 2 and couldn't find it anywhere but frickin' Ebay. FInally I was at a Fry's and I saw this little pack that had both of them otgether for like $12. And that was like 3-4 years ago.

And of course I grabbed Fallout 3 last October.

So, since nobody really counts Fallout:BOS(POS), I have all the Fallout games.

I have BOS for PS2. I actually kind of love it, and find some shame in that. Playing through Fallout 1 now. Still kind of getting used to the way things work, but I love it so far.
Call me a gigantic nerd for bringing this up, but there should be a Fallout tabletop RPG. I think it could go far. Dark Heresy just doesn't cut it.

ExtraSensory: it was based off of a tabletop system in the first place and there have been attempts to port it back to tabletop (i think one example of it was put on the "radioactive" disc of the fallout trilogy infact)

Actually Fallout Tactics comes with a Fallout Pen-and-Paper RPG, sort of like Warhammer, in a PDF file included on a bonus CD. My brother and I tried to play it, but you pretty much have to print off like dozens of pages of mini paper figures, cut them out, fold them each into little pyramids, and tape a penny to them. Total pain in the ass, but it seemed like it would be fun. Essentially it is just Warhammer with Fallout squads like Raiders, Brotherhood, Mutants, stuff like that. I'm sure you can find it on the internet somewhere.

Its called Fallout Warfare

This site has all the PDFs.

You can get them free.
You used to be able to get them from the official website, but you cant now.

A simple google search can get you a free copy.
Im not saying torrents either.

Im playing through the original Fallout right now, but its a bit buggy running in 64 bit. I probably wont finish any time soon.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'll have to round up some pennies and try it out.
I'm running it 64 bit too. The only problem I've run into is that every few maps (or if I go into stealth), the screen will fill with black and anywhere I move the mouse goes back to normal.
I love the way the game plays though.

The same thing happens to me, I tried to find a fix for it but the only thing i found was to open up a menu.

Whenever my screen goes black i always press C and it fixes it. lol

Haha. Good tip. I still need to go through the PDF to find all of the keyboard shortcuts.

Just recently bought this, employing my usual tactic of waiting until a new installment in a franchise comes out and buying the bug-fixed versions of the older games for cheap :). I just had to buy it after Graham mentioned in a LRRcast that FO2's random encounters include people like King Arthur's knights from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The LRRcast archive is actually a fantastic ad campaign for Fallout: I went from thinking "Maybe I'll play that some time" to "This sounds great, I should get a copy somehow" to "I want to buy it and play it NOW!"

That said, I won't start playing through it till my exams are over in a couple of weeks.

Ya know that scene in Robocop, where the guy melts? Her juices will do that to your junk.
