A Joint Venture for Ask An Alex Live Fans

Postby Elomin Sha » 10 Jun 2009, 13:50

Or just for the hell of it.

For those who attend AAAL on Saturdays, and if you don't you should, know of the running gag of the stabbing hookers song and sometimes changing it to stabbing clergy, or punching clergy. It was suggested to Alex that he record a version of the song. He's a busy guy so it hasn't happened yet so I was thinking, why don't we record our own version.
From what I know the song is just dooba/derba/derpa (not sure which is right) stabbing hookers repeatedly.

Instead of it being stabbing hookers we should sing variations.
Example:
Doobey doobey doo doo Stabbing Hookers
Doobey doobey doo doo Punching Grandma

If anyone wants to join in let's get some lyrics and then record them. If anyone knows how to make music you could create a track for the backing. I know the Operation: Beat Cycle for the Runners is going on and we're ALL working really hard on it but this is just a little fun.

So:
1. Get the lyrics sorted
2. Record it
3. Give it to me to edit together or someone else who is compitant in audio programs
4. Optional: add backing music.

For those who have no idea what I'm on about I'll enclose a link here or someone else might of how it should go.

If you're new to the forums and wonder what that post is on about that keeps popping up to the top every week: Ask An Alex Live is like Stephen Fry's show QI - Quite Interesting with nice information and stories but can extend to QU - Quite Unnecessary.

I mentioned doing something like this myself before, but between AP stuff and getting kicked out of my school's recording studio, it kinda fell by the wayside. So I'd be more than willing to record a few lines with other Alex Fans.

I have a pretty bad microphone, but know a few other people with decent ones, so might be able to contribute. Haven't currently got any inspiration as to lines, though.

Except for derpa derpa derpa watching Twilight, of course. ;)

Sadly I can not sing all too well. Perhaps I need to trick someone into doing it.

Oh and just for lulz, if you search "stabbing hookers song", this thread is the first result.

I can't sing either so don't worry about it having to be perfect. The voices would be laid one over the other or something. I was on the arly shift today at work so I scribbled down some lyrics for the three hours it was dead. There is a slight theme to this, introduction, warnings, what the fans do and then the rage. I'm thinking every 4th or 5th line there should be an music piece (possibly use Alex's theme).

Doobey doobey do do Ask An Alex
Doobey doobey do do Alex is Furry/Is a Furry
Doobey doobey do do Has a Fail Count
Doobey doobey do do Has a Sound Check
Doobey doobey do do In the Pre Show

Doobey doobey do do Cleans a Library (cheat on the syllable and say lie bree)
Doobey doobey do do Lost his Watch
Doobey doobey do do Beep Beep Beep Beep
Doobey doobey do do Has a Plushie
Doobey doobey do do Tachikoma

Doobey doobey do do Has a roomate
Doobey doobey do do He is Vaughn
Doobey doobey do do Half a cow

Doobey doobey do do Asking Questions
Doobey doobey do do Trolling Alex
Doobey doobey do do No to 4chan
Doobey doobey do do 5 minus 1 chan
Doobey doobey do do fap fap fap fap

Doobey doobey do do Coke and Bookend
Doobey doobey do do Playing Stalker
Doobey doobey do do Getting Shit Scared

*Sung angry*
Doobey doobey do do Watching Twilight
Doobey doobey do do Full of Rage
Doobey doobey do do Stabbing Clergy
Doobey doobey do do Punching Grandmas
Doobey doobey do do breaking uStream

This was my rough write out. If anyone thinks there is anything salagable to use let me know, tt might be a little long.

Anyone who listens to the podcasts knows about Alex losing his watch in his old house and having to stand at either corner of the room with his parents and Graham at the hour and point where they think it came from (all in different directions).

Some of the words like Watch and rage would have a syllable added to take it to the 4 required, repeating the vowel sound really. Library is different, I'm not sure how many actually cut out the 'ra' when they say it (might be an England thing or I do it solely - not sure).
Ray-age
Wah-atch
With the Twilight part emphasis would be put into the sabbing, punching etc like you're actually doing it.

Did a quick rough run-through, just to get an idea of what it sounds like.

Very timid Gunner but good for having a go. It's a little quiet and quick but that's basically the jist of how it can go before rewrites (help me on that).

Listening to the end as I write, cracked me up.

I think my mic's dying on me, because it seems to be a lot quieter than it used to be, and I'm always more hesitant to break out into song when other people are awake in the house. Tonight I'll do another run-through or two with some changes.

I'll rework the lyrics then I'll sing a few of the stanzas later to show how it possibly should go.

My mind still refuses those cosplay pics of Alex... its an elaborate photoshop.

Even Miram's movie "I need you tonight" is an artistic work photo-trickery.

OMG

I just found a song in my music collection that 100% WORKS with those lyrics. The lyrics are too short for the song but the words end at the right point in the song

That song is "Wooo" from Vitalic's OK Cowboy album. Give listen while singing the lyrics. Its a little slower but it WORKS. I might be able to combine the two later when work isn't being retarded.

Edit: Sadly the angry part doesn't really work. Hrm
