LRRCast for Joystique, Economic Stimulus and Buttstallation

Postby Jer » 23 Jun 2009, 16:26

I was AT HOME SICK when this was recorded; in fact I still am -- and yet here is your LRRCast, which I edited because I love you. No bonus content this week, but I have some ideas ...

So two late ones and one significantly early one, neatly rolled into one massive package! :D

Awww, Jer loves us. Get well soon, Jer.

Also, Paul's teaser for next week's video is tantalizingly tantalizing.

Paul, with the stunt question, don't you remember having to go under at that one really cold dirty bay for Bioshock'd?

Thought so, I mean the fact that you were A) exposed to toxic waste, B) going in completely clothed, C) are a skinny ass motha-shut-yo-mouf, and D) had to GO UNDERWATER, I figured that would count.

What makes the Uncharted 2 Beta better than other online multiplayer games like Halo?

That's simple, Paul, my friend.

In Uncharted 2, you can sneak up behind an enemy, press the Melee button, and your character will grab them and snap their neck.

This never gets old. Ever.

EDIT: Todd MacFarlane's action figures over the last few years are shit. Nice looking, but basically statues. You should have gone with NECA.

So the next video ties in with Buttstalation, and Jer is sick...
Down With the Sickness 2: Philosophic Flu!

Sucks to be sick, I know... 20 min ago I wasn't able to type because even wrapped up in 2 layers allover, I feel frackin' cold and have had 6 hours of feeling utterly shit. Second bucket nearby :) ... :(

A podcast is a good pickup, so thanks.

I appreciate it, Jer. Triple podcast to listen to while I train in Final Fantasy 4 to beat Bahamut. I have a day of relaxation ahead.

Boo, no Andy in the podcast. Might he be in the one for the other video he recorded?

I feel compelled by the power of pedantry that courses within me to point out that since Jerry Springer: The Opera was on the BBC, it wouldn't have had ad breaks when it was originally broadcast. In England.

The period of 22 minutes after Rick Mercer left was pretty bad for a few years, but the current lineup is fantastic and is even possibly better than the Rick Mercer years. Colin Mochrie is probably the worst cast member they've had. Good thing he was only around for 1 or 2 seasons.

Okay, so here's something astonishing that I just found out.

When Graham mentioned Rick Moranis as regards to my question, I looked up the show on Wikipedia (Where else?) to see who replaced him in the TV series.

And then came my big surprise when I discovered who played the son, Nick Szalinski:

Thomas Freaking Dekker

Aka, John Connor ala Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Awesome, and yet now I feel ungodly old...

SOTA, too. I was trying to remember who's been doing the Street Fighter action figure series last night when I posted the above but I was drawing a blank.

I have to say that for any regular viewer of Jon and Kate Plus 8, the divorce wasn't a shock; it was all but inevitable. Kate may be a caring mother, but she was sh*t as a wife. Even when she did something wrong and it was on camera she'd find some way to blame Jon. Jon was clearly getting bugged by it more and more and it finally came to the point where he decided that he could be much happier without her constant nagging and criticism. What's really shocking is that he put up with her antics for 10 years.

I am very much looking forward to next week's video. Rumor on the other threads is a Canada Day video! LRR typically does a good job when they have an annual event video to sink their teeth into. They probably have 4 great Christmas video ideas just sitting around waiting for December to roll around.

I'd never heard of these Jon and Kate people until I listened to the podcast. But of course I cancelled my TV service a while ago. Now that I know, I have to say, I don't care.

Oh wow... Matt is the only person I've heard who said the controls in Metroid Prime 3 were terrible... everyone else has said/experienced the exact opposite, haha.

Matt if you're reading this, are you sure that you had the controls set to the Expert setting?(or "Advanced", whatever the highest setting is)

yes, they are set to expert, and while I see what they are going for, they are frustrating, and make the game harder to play.

Wow... no offense, but that's really odd, heh. I really don't know how you can have such trouble with it, then.

I mean sure, Wii games like Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and The Conduit have way more in terms of customization, but still... you're the first person I've heard who despises them in MP3. XP
