CANADA DAY CANADA DAY CANADA DAY!

Postby TheRocket » 28 Jun 2009, 10:26

Horray, horray! It's almost Canada Day, horray!

I'm so excited, that I'm going to jump the gun in making a C-Day thread. I want to know what YOU are doing to honor our fair country. If you are not Canadian, when does your country celebrate and what do you do that day? Does anyone have any traditions? Or are you all boring prudes that stay in and enjoy the stat pay? Maybe you have to work, and be angry. Or maybe you have something awesome and explosive to contribute to this topic.

I WANT TO KNOW.

War. War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything, from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage.

I usually have a barbecue with my friends. Sometimes we go to the lake. Sometimes we don't.

Canada day is just a prelude to my birthday anyway (July 2nd). Every year I think "Man, it would have been sweet to have been born like 7 hours earlier."

I voted the bottom one because it is true. I think England is so far ahead that we realised there is no reason to have country days or we're really lazy (St. George's Day not a holiday here)

I go to the fireworks because fireworks are hella fun. Usually I meet up with some folks and we get snacks beforehand. This year I am freed of the drunken bus crowds afterwards - hurrah!

Already three pints down for the froods next door!

(I am not three pints down for the froods next door. Work night. :( )

Provided the weather isn't Alaska Standard Issue, there will probably be some barbecue, some kite flying, and a big fire while we all watch the fireworks and have a jolly old time. It should be pretty great.

I may have a couple pints and set off a few fireworks (not necessarily in that order), but nothing special overall.

I'll probably go downtown and check out some of the festivities. I don't usually go all out for Canada Day, but I consider myself a pretty pariotic person. More people should know and love Canada!!

If you don't have Canada Day in your country, what are you doing sitting in front of the computer??!! Go and DO something about it!! Your nations will be better for it.

I'm in a small town, so I'll watch the parade and sit in some lawn chairs by the highway drinking Canadians for the rest of the day, throwing thumbs-up to passing motorists.

Where's the option for "I have indeed been drinking all evening, but don't live in Canada and think national pride causes more problems than it solves, as it is so often used to justify prejudice"?

I'm working Canada Day and all the festivities in town are cancelled. I'll probably just have a couple beer after work.

See, I don't usually do a lot (or anything sometimes) for Canada Day or the fourth of July, but I rock the hell out of Abe Lincoln's birthday. And Indigenous Peoples Day.

HAWHAT? Why is everything in town cancelled??? =(

I'm going to be doing some epic rafting. Many costumes, capsizes, and silliness will occur. What better way to celebrate your country then to get down and dirty with nature.

I usually go downtown for festivities, music, food, and picture taking. However it seems to have been the same gong show for the past few years and I wanted something new. Oh, how I will miss the Kettle Corn though!

Canada Day is, by far, my favourite holiday of the year.

All my friends get super into it with me, dressing up, all that good stuff.
Party all day, then head downtown at night to join the hordes of patriotic drunks and watch the fireworks.

Already booked the day off work.
Yayyyy.
