New Doctor Who Costume Revealed

Postby Elomin Sha » 20 Jul 2009, 03:19

A Bow tie, tweed jacket and rolled up trousers. Matt Smith looks like a sinister Physics Teacher. It seems to suit him though.

It seems a little odd to me since they're trying to appeal to a younger demographic with the younger Doctor. His outfit and hair style isn't trendy, to say the least. I like it as a traditional Doctor outfit, but I would've thought more black leather jacket than brown tweed jacket.

I preferred Tennant's "geek chic" look. Much classier.

My eyes will be on Karen Gillian so I won't be bothered.

Duh. This is so right. I don't know why I was worried about it in the first place. Thanks AmazingPjotrMan! 8)

I respect a Timelord who can save the world endless times wearing a bow tie. Bring it on!

I think Christopher Eccleston had my favorite Doctor Who outfit: Black pants, casual shirt and a beat up leather jacket. Practical, totally unremarkable and fits in almost anywhere, exactly the sort of outfit that someone who is travelling to all different places and times would want wear. When the outfits get too "designed" with little question marks integrated into everything and obvious eclectic tailoring it starts looking more like a uniform instead of just the clothes that he feels comfortable in.

i think it looks rather silly to be honest, and not in a good way. it's the kind of thing a fifty year old university professor would wear

There's no saying that he'll always have the bow tie, either.

Rather than what Matt Smith is wearing the most important thing is that Russel T Davies isn't touching it anymore.

He kind of looks like a dorky college professor from 50's, who hasn't hit puberty yet.

I really liked Tennant's look. Kind of a Business Adventurer look. To me the new guy's look is kind of bland.

I enjoy the look of it, but I wonder how it do with the new Doctor's, supposedly, "darker" attitude.
Needless to say, I am very excited for the next episode.

QFT

Moffat has shown himself to be able to the job, and while I admire RTD for resurrecting the show, he still took it to places that I still don't like.

One thing I'd really hope for: Morgana finds a way back from E-space.

Call me species-ist, but she IS the only proper romantic pairing for the Doctor. Heck, even platonically, it'd be nice to have a companion travelling with Our Favourite Gallifreyan(sp?)™ who is more on an equal footing.

This does not help my personal suspiscion that Matt Smith will be the worst Doctor in many decades.

The lack of visible vegetables on his coat disappoints me.

Me too, one thing I loved about David Tennant's Doctor was all the extra things, the quirky props if you will. His ever changing of Chucks to match what ever suit he was wearing, the glasses he pulled out to wear JUST to look more clever... I guess that's really it.. but still. That fact that he wore a suit, and not just parts of one, but the whole thing, pants, coat, collared shirt, and tie and he had different ones made his character more lovable. To me at least.

Well let me say say that I have a brown suit, Chucks and nerdy glasses.

Looks a bit silly, but maybe it'll grow on me later on.

But I already miss Tennant :(

Is anyone here at SDCC who is going to the Dr Who Panel?

As opposed to geeky, it strikes me as a sort of ironic hipster look. Not that there's anything wrong with that. My knowledge of the series is limited to knowing that, at some point, there was a guy with Bob Dylan hair and a giant, gout masking scarf.

The girl's certainly cute though.
