Life is Like a Video

Postby Graham » 16 Jun 2006, 19:14

Yeah, we know, it's a simile, not a metaphor.
Metaphor sounds better.
Go away.

No wait, come back and tell us what you thought.

Then go away.

But the oak bay tea party was two weekends ago ....

I guess you are being organized and shooting things a head of time.

When you are young the tea party is so much fun. You look foward to it for weeks. Then you realize you are just being ripped off by a bunch of carnie that they would not let into oak usually. Then they get rid of the fireworks which as the only good part </snobby rant>

The noise was cranked up way too much over here so when the sudden cake closeup with the laugh appeared, my ears got blown to smithereens. In short, great video.

Life is like... ... gah, after ten minutes of trying to figure out something good to write, I'll just sit back and let others write something catchy.

Actually I think it's a different hat, very similar but not the same. I'll have to look it up.

The DVD ending reminded me of Harvey Birdman, cause the "cast" always is laughing at the end. HA HA.....dangly parts.

Oh my GAAAAWD!

When I went to the Fair (on the Friday) we wanted to find something to do to pass the time and I wanted to go on one of the little kids one and the carny was like, "Don't even try, you're way too big." And me and my friends were SOOO pissed.

It was still fun...

Yay for DVDs!!

oh I wish I'd thought of this when we were working on it last week, but you should have totally included the joke in the "older rides" bit

Paul wrote:... and then one day it finally comes, and you can get on to the big rides. and you find out that all it does is give you nausea, and you start throwing up, and it's not very fun, and when it's over, not only are you too big to get on any of the smaller rides, but any change you had in your pockets is gone.

That metaphor, that metaphor is FANTASTIC! It's... genius.

This was really well done, the whole 'get up, look around' thing. This is yet another in a long line of brilliant videos. What's happened to you guys? Sure, those 64K Videos (do another) must have taken alot of fore-thought and the likes, but I swear you've never had quite a string like this. Brilliant.

Now I have two DVDs I have to buy. The cake, the hats, everything; it's all so beautiful *sniff*. I'd best get round to actually buying those DVDs then.

Actually, young Rhynome, it's a simile. See me after class.

Seriously though, my prediction is that LRR are just setting us up to turn all Uwe Boll on us.

Surely it's seeing life as something it isn't. There is a reason life is like a metaphor, so surely that would make it a metaphor and not a simile then?

Then again, it is 'like'. Bah, I have failed again.

Technically a simile is "a comparison using 'like' or 'as' ", so "Life is like a fair" is a simile.
"Life is a fair" would have been a metaphor.

So, 'Life is a metaphor.' is a metaphor. 'Life is like a metaphor.' is a simile.

AHA.

Thank you Craham. You have managed to bring us all to salvation yet again.

How did you do the audio in the opening sequence? Was that dubbed over, or do you just have one totally badass mic? The difference in background noise between Paul and Morgan talking on the grass and standing up is pretty dramatic. But if it was dubbed over, it was a hell of a job.

Hah, I knew it! What is a Skymaster anyway? I'm not much for evil things that go around though. Bad experiences.

I personally like:

“Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I've got a few missing. It's ok though, because I've got some more vibrant colors like periwinkle at my disposal. I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the 8-color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation.. so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type.. I'm like, "hey girl, magenta!" and she's like, "oh, you mean purple!" and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, "no - I want magenta!"”
All hail the great deku tree!

Brad, that's fantastic. Where's it from? I'm afraid I don't recognise it.

Pjotr, I think the skymaster is that thing in the background of the video, the big two hammer looking swirly thing. Not totally sure though, I only know it as 'the big swirly thing'.
