Dear LRRites who are maintaining penis jokes aren't funny:

Please stop being so boring. Go on, let out that immature giggle. Go on. There's nothign wrong with laughing at words like "Penis". Or "Poo". Or even... "Bottom".

Go watch some Blackadder.

Sincerely, Mimm's Inner Child.

By the same token, overdoing penis jokes is annoying as hell to us people who think they aren't funny, just annoying.
Well, hallo there.

1 well placed penis joke can be hilarious.... 10+ not so well placed penis jokes is annoying and means you can't come up with anything better.

I do laugh at immature jokes and make them from time to time...but they are still IMMATURE jokes, if you can't come up with anything better then it shows a lack of creativity on your part and it just gets annoying.

Understand that the Phailhaus is anlargely improvised affair and it's not a case of "can't come up with anything better" it's much more a case of it all being part of a flow.

When we get into a groove we make callbacks to previous jokes, and that happened to be the joke.

No one's complained before when there's been a running gag through a whole episode, but now that it's a penis joke SUDDENLY it's uncreative.

I don't like the term "uncreative" because it implies that we used those jokes as if we were going for some kind of cheap laugh.
No. It's just how it unfolded.

I didn't mind the penis joke. I thought that it worked well. granted, this wasn't my favorite installment in the house of phail, but it is in my top three and the magnetically detachable penis is a big reason why.

Yes, a penis joke is immature, but so what? Immaturity is FUNNY. You want maturity? watch reruns of Frasier, unarguably one of the smartest sitcoms in the last decade. But be warned, because every so often... THEY MADE A DICK JOKE, TOO!

I think the clue to how the two of them felt after an episode like this was the stinger of "What the fuck are we doing?".

Saying detatchable penis once is funny. Saying it a few times is funny. Saying that phrase over and over for 6 minutes is not funny. Saying magnetic detatchable penis and discussing the various attachments and accessories to said magnetic dick? HI-LARIOUS.

Yes. Simple things, like repeating the word 'penis' over and over again, are so funny we can just barely avoid pissing ourselves in overjoy. =|

Why is it that the word penis inspires such laughter but a picture of one makes people frown?

Well, male homo sapiens quite enjoy conversation about their genitalia and its colloquialisms (like the male chicken, the male name, and the male last name). However, many of these homo sapiens do not enjoy directing their visage towards the image of another homo sapien's genitalia since they would prefer the image of their own so they could marvel at its existence. Many male homo sapiens do not wish to be shamed by another's part.

But that's just my theory.

It's less shame more "aversion to seeing anyone's private parts," at least for me anyway.

Reality TV, more than anything, causes me to seriously contemplate citizenship in another country. Any other country.

America sucks sometimes...generally whenever Fox executives get involved.

I don't know about there being much Penis in England, but I do know there's a lot of pricks.
