Day killing SK pretty much made this game unplayable.

Agreed. I didn't even get to have any actions on day 5.

DAMN YOU, TIME DIFFERENCE!

But I'm kidding myself; there's no way Curbee and I were ever going to kill Joshua before he got to one of us, and it was always going to end up this way with three Townies and two killers left. Well played, though, Joshua. I didn't even suspect you until it came down to you and Fearman.

Why? If we hadn't sucked so badly it wouldn't have been a problem.

Who's next? I'll throw up my BSG game if no one else is in line.

You did a Mafia Wars game based on the British Society of Gastroenterology? Wow.
Nothing to see here.

Yeah, I don't see how it made the game unplayable, except you guys immediately jumped to a mod-kill scenario, witch in my opinion was just fantastic. Different yes, but had I ever been investigated there where several other parties who could have killed me.

Also, thanks Thrash, I didn't even know I would win, I thought it would turn into a John Woo stand off sorta thing, witch is why I didn't pick to kill you, the cop, on the last day.

Fantastic, in the sense of "I can't believe you guys actually think that! We clearly have a killer in our midst!" Grrrr....

You're definitely next, metcarfre. I need to throw together a game some time soon, to get some experience running a game, otherwise my LRR-themed Paul Is Dead Mafia Extravaganza will never actually happen. Not sure what, though; I thought Shakespeare, but it'd require reading through a lot of the plays just looking for suitable quotes, and I have a bunch of other things that I want to get done. Maybe I'll just keep it fairly straightforward.

You were a night doc, not a daydoc. =P

I strongly disagree. Joshua played a decent game, honestly. It's pretty easy to hide amongst you guys and just follow along without getting burned. He almost got burned by the cop, but there was a decent amount of time between night and day that you coulda voted him if the timing had been right.

The problem is, there is no defense against it. A night kill can be stopped by a doctor or skewed with a Bus Driver, but a day kill is instant success.

I agree that Joshua did well, but I doubt he would have done as great without day killing.

Also, I lost interest in this game halfway through, it just was so random sometimes it felt like we weren't in control of anything.

I wasn't really paying attention to the game after I died, but to me it really seemed like you guys weren't trying. The first day kill made it blatantly obvious that there was a day-killing vigilante/serial killer out there (hell, I even provided those unfamiliar with the game proof that roles like that exist), but there was almost no discussion relating to that or trying to figure out who it was.

It felt random and like you weren't in control because you didn't take control. You need to play the meta-game as well.

Yeah, this is a real problem with this crowd, honestly. You guys like to just bumrush anybody who says anything. Surprisingly, you got two scum out of it(And Joshua got the third).

And Joshua had the OPTION to kill during the night - he just chose not to. =P

If I had the choice between Day and Night, I'd choose day. It's so much better in every way in affecting the game.

It also reveals your existence and, in most games, makes people focus harder on taking you out (both Mafia and Town). If you do it during the night, its easier to confuse the town and hide under the actions of the Mafia, so you have fewer threats to deal with.

Except that two kills a night still reveals the existence of another killer. But during the day you can shut down anyone who is vocal about it and fear nothing. But the biggest thing, is that there is absolutely no defense against a day kill. A doctor becomes useless unless you also allow them to day protect.

Yeah, I barely survived acting drunk and singing. Geez.

I wanted to take control, but as a cop I didn't want to get night-killed immediately, and we did so badly at first that I thought I was looking like scum by being so prominent; hence the "I deny any responsibility for what happens next" post.

Also, no one paid any attention to anything I said about day-killing vigilantes or how suspicious it was that the same bunch of people rushed to lynch the first two Townies, so I clearly suck at leadership. :(

It was quite hard to get people to think or act for themselves in this game. And Beta-Guy, who was by then the Mafia boss, didn't even attempt to save himself from being lynched. To make the game work, everyone needs to get into it: post more, lurk only if they have a reason other than apathy, and use their brains to work stuff out rather than rely on the moderator to have obligingly given the Town twelve investigative roles.

I'd just like to say that if it weren't for you guys getting freakin' lucky with the suicide bomber type deal, we totally would've won.

I think the style of this game in particular made it harder to coordinate. The EXTREME speaking really made it hard to take anything seriously.

It was still possible to make note of how often people were posting, who people had voted for, and how quickly they did so. That's pretty much all I base my suspicions on in Mafia anyway.
