Desert bus chat logs

Postby Lorithad » 26 Nov 2009, 20:05

To anyone that wants them, I've got chat logs from the entire event. From about two hours or so before it started, to about 8 hours after it finished.

So if you want them, PM me with your email address and i'll hook you up.

Holy crap! That is twelve kinds of amazing. I'm really glad someone grabbed that, thanks Lorithad.

I'm kind of tempted to request them, just so I can run some basic machine learning on the data... given that data, can I determine if a random line is a TRUE line from a LRR chat? If someone has a number in their post over 1000, how likely is it that they are Octopimp? Etc etc.

Before compressing them into a rar, it sums up about 30 megs of pure text.

After compression into .rar form, it's about 6 megs.

We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the internet, we know that is not true.

That might be interesting to read through once we get some of the DB videos that the guys are putting up, simply to try and work out what they're reacting to and the like.

Wow, It takes a few minutes for me to open up the 10mb logs I have from YEARS of a chat, for that to be 30mb after a week, that's terrifying, and I wouldn't even want to open it.

But yeah, if someone can put it through one of those stat things I'd love to see that.

I don't have any single file that's 30mb. The entire event is broken down on a day by day basis. The largest file being just over 5mb.

The only interesting parts of the chat are the parts that get picked up on by the people in the drivercam and responded to. The rest just falls by the wayside.

I have ALL the logs for DB, it's about 54MB uncompressed. I'm still logging as I try to get people to move out of that channel and into the LRR IRC.

All you gotta do is PM me with your email address. I've sent them to around 10 people so far.
