LRR Intro Edits
I got bored, and, for some reason, decided I remake the LRR Opening Sequence with the moon phases.
The arrow is shoddy, I know. I'm horrible at photo manipulation. Other than that I think it turned out decent, though.
Your thoughts?

Should add a Runners flag on the big dot

It does look pretty epic. I deffinatly like it, I can see how the arrow is difficult but it looks alright.

Very nice. I have already set this image as my computer background.
It's there. We're just too far out to see.

Re: LRR Moon Phases
Thanks everyone. I really wish I could fix the arrow.
Awesome. I have a bigger version if you want it.

The imperfections are more obvious unfortunately.

Exactly what phase of the moon is the last one? Is that what's gonna happen in 2012??

For some reason, that post reminded me of the Asteroids game, which I soon realized would work almost perfectly with the LRR logo.

I can see the problems you have with the arrow but it doesn't really detract from it overall. I think it's fascinating, really.

Thanks again, people.
Here's an asteroids version. I think it turned out awesome.

Oh man, I love the Asteroids version. That's my favourite classic vector graphics game.
By the way, I should point out that throughout the month the shadow moves across the surface of the moon from right to left. Like so.

Yeah I know, but I figured it would be best to reverse so it would look like a continuous spin instead of a halfway and the go backwards.
And funnily enough, that's the exact image I used.

{nice 'shoop of 'LRR moon'}

I like it. The arrow is a necessary evil, and done quite well, in my strictly unprofessional opinion.
And yes, a pedant would argue that the moon should wax as it progresses, but that, too is necessary due to the arrow required at the right, along with the required circle just to it's left. It still flows in proper sequence for the Luna's phases, if right-to-left. Nonetheless, it's clear Jim's not griping seriously about this, else he wouldn't have made the image his desktop. (I am sorely tempted to follow suit....fuckit, just a minute...
...THERE; immortalized on my computer:
I like it - the wooded river scene that a friend shot was nice, but it didn't really make it clear for some of the icons. This is stark and austere, and somewhat elegant. THANKS!
(oh, and liking the LRRsteroids one, too )

Re: LRR Moon Phases
This could also be done with other planets in our solar system + three of their moons. Uranus & Neptune particularly, since they're blue.

Re: LRR Moon Phases
If angled right, Neptune's rings could help make the triangle shape.

Re: LRR Moon Phases
That's a good idea. I can't seem to find any good pictures of Saturn's moons and back, but I have a good one of Jupiter's. I'll see what I can do with that. I might just make a solar system one.
Edit: Whoops, this was in response to Jim.

Yeah, I thought about doing that, but then I remembered they already did something like that.

True... I wasn't sure about posting that, 'cause I thought it might have already been done.
Still, you could make the big circle a power pellet, and the triangle um... the space within Pac Man's mouth?
Also, that's a great video.

3 ghosts, power pellet, and Pacman facing left. That should work.
