i think i need a hug.....or maybe i just need more pokeballs
so.... lately i have been playing a lot of video games that people my age generally don't play. Chief example is pokemon though i blame desertbus for that as i required something mindless and trivial to drag me away from the computer where i slowly became a milestone image producing zombie....and not a traditional zombie...i mean one of those fast mothafuckas that pops out of no where...only with completely random pictures....anyway i digress...the point is i got to thinking and i realized the last time i played a pokemon game was during a fairly traumatic segment of my childhood...the more i think about it the more i realize how much video games did to keep me mentally stable...and really more than anything they taught me a lot of things i probably would not have learned normally....but i am also sad cause i remembered all the bad stuff that happened....soo....hugs?

I think I know how you feel I use games now to take me away from my ultra crippling shyness and lack of social circle.

When I had a few years in my childhood where my social relations fell apart, and I was picked on at school, I found solace in FF 7 and 8 (something about stories of loners and their developement felt very familiar). I think I can relate.

When my life fell apart, I found you guys...
No really. 5 funerals, best friend walking out of my life, brother going to prison, and getting dumped in an 8 month period would have really messed me up if it weren't for LRR and the community to keep my mind occupied during my 8 hours of sitting at work with nothing to do but think about how everything I know is rapidly disappearing.
(And considering how messed up I am anyway, that would be bad.)
But when I was a kid, I built things, including games, to keep me busy.
So, *hugs*
Check it out, excessive commas.

Re: i think i need a hug.....or maybe i just need more pokeballs
Video games are a form of escapism for many, myself included. There are plenty of ways to do it, reading books (Sci-Fi, Fantasy etc etc), films or just straight video games. It's threads like these that remind me of why I game, of course not entirely because of the escapism, but it's a big part of it.
So hugs all round.

Is it just me or are pokemon jokes becoming something of a staple both on the forums and in LRR behind the scenes/RL stuff e.g Desert Bus.
Nothing to see here.

Re: i think i need a hug.....or maybe i just need more pokeballs
I look back on those days fondly myself... when I had time to play pokemon the amount of time it required and the patience to do so... Charmander char. Charmander char indeed...
Re: i think i need a hug.....or maybe i just need more pokeballs
You needed something mindless and trivial... to make you stop being a mindless zombie... does anyone else's head hurt thinking about the logic in that statement?
But escapism for the win! I can't play MGS2 without getting weepy like a school girl and the MGS theme still hits a string embedded in the soft parts of my soul. Stupid traumatic grade 10... ruining a decent game and good series with circumstances...

I wish Pokemon could solve my problem right now.
But my problem right now is that I am really hungry with nothing to eat so I don't know how Pokemon would make any difference.

I can say that it's probably the case that most people would happily drop everything in their life right now if they could exchange it for being a real Pokemon trainer.
I sometimes fear that no job will ever live up to it.

Even to this day, when birthday candles are blown out, a shooting star flies over head, or a toss a penny in a fountain, I close my eyes, make a wish, and believe.AlexanderDitto wrote:I can say that it's probably the case that most people would happily drop everything in their life right now if they could exchange it for being a real Pokemon trainer.
