Brain Hurts... But Magenta Doesn't Exist
Re: Brain Hurts... But Magenta Doesn't Exist
Did anyone else have those Sanford Mr. Sketch Scented Markers as a kid? I always thought Magenta smelled the best, followed by, surprisingly, Brown.

What is wrong with you people?
No, seriously. You're arguing about colors. You're arguing what MAGENTA is. This is like arguing about what Batman's underpants look like, and whether he has any gadgets built into them.
In the meantime, I was out vaporizing no less than seven cataclysmicly sized meteors in the era shortly after what you mortals erroneously call the Big Bang, simply so I wouldn't be forced to relocate from Sol to Tau Ceti within the next millenia.

Of course he has gadgets built into them. He's the goddamned Batman.

Alja, you say it like we can't do two things at once. Give us some credit, we can multitask. I blew up an alien armada this morning.

You've got a fair point there Alja. This is a stupid topic, whether magenta is a colour or not, shame on us. We should be talking about something much more worthwhile.
I'm sure Batman has a brightly colour of underwear to offset his dark look. Without a certain colour existing anymore I guess it is pastel blue with a bat lining for the bat poop.

Re: Brain Hurts... But Magenta Doesn't Exist
I think I can, in all seriousness, settle this,
Magenta is a pereceptually unique color, colors being a certain kind of perception of light defined by human beings, which are beings with trichromatic vision (we uniquely detect levels of Red, Blue, and Green), but it does not correspond to a single range of wave lengths in the light spectrum but instead a combination of low and high frequency waves.

It was settled in the first post. I really don't like being mean, but you are obviously not very good at either science or math, and you probably shouldn't be trying to talk about / explain things you don't understand.
That said, this is a very interesting article. I always enjoy reading about things, like this, that have never before occurred to me.

I've actually spent a lot of time studying color theory. What is wrong with the conclusion I've drawn? Perceptual color theory is legitimate, based on the idea that the actual light waves which create the stimulus of color and the actual perceptual colors, which are based on the psychological and neurological interpretations of those stimuli, are two separate things. Magenta does not have a direct correlate in the visible spectrum, but it is a perceivable combination of stimuli. The math comments I made earlier were jokes, I do not think magenta or pink are like irrational numbers or fractions.
Look, "Color" is based on three things: hue, saturation and gradient, which can be said to correspond to the more common terms of color, brilliance and brightness. I consider pink to be a variance of saturation and gradient more than hue, where as magenta is a perceptually unique hue. I don't mean to be a dick about this, but color debates angry up my blood, and color is not the light itself, but how it is perceived.

This gives me rationalization to say that Pink is not a band, not a musician, nor real in any way. Just a trick our mind plays on us.
Re: Brain Hurts... But Magenta Doesn't Exist
Magenta does exist as played by Patricia Quinn in rocky Horror.
