The Lost LRRcast

Postby James » 12 Dec 2009, 01:11

Here it is. Some scientists date this thing all the way back to 5 weeks ago. Others say 5,000,000 years.

You be the judge.

About halfway through: "If this goes up on time." "It probably won't."

That killed me.

Same here.

Also, it's funny they mentioned the leggings thing. College is rough because of that.

LRR, thank you for this little birthday present.

I know its an open one, and you didn't mean it for me, or as a present, but thanks.

I enjoyed the Pratchett discussion. You're 2 books behind there's Making Money and Unseen Academicals.

The Stargazer (Picard's old ship) was a Constellation-class.
Khan's ship was a Miranda-class.

I can remember that while both tired and drunk, just being tired is no excuse to me.

Woot Discword

Postby Koolpin » 12 Dec 2009, 08:22

The Moist von Lipwig ones are my favourite of the Discworld novels, so take it from me, he's a new character as of Going Postal, and wasn't in The Truth

Going postal is, in fact, my second favourite book next to Dome, which had a madman on a giant cat causing mayhem, and someone nearly driven mad by sensory deprivation torture, and also a bunch of sci fi stuff.

Anyway, back on topic: I'm reaaally looking forward to the upcoming Sky One adaptations of the Moist novels. Hogfather was good in many ways, but the pacing was painful, reminding me of how you describe the Eternal Sonata cutscenes. Hope they fix it!

(Edit: changed BBC to Sky One, as that's who's making all the adaptations)

As regards to the shaving question, I've shaved my face, my armpits, my crotch, and both legs. But besides the face everything else was experimental only and I've never done it since.

Shaving

Postby Koolpin » 12 Dec 2009, 10:08

Oho! The previous post reminds me:

It's possible to shave just the tip of a cat's tail, so almost all the fur is gone at the end, but you do it totally flat! So instead of a smooth taper to the end of the tail, it all of a sudden squares off.

Ahhh, the things you find out when you're bored.. it's also possible to make a flamethrower with an 8 foot flame entirely using stuff from a dollar store.

Dear Kathleen,

If you want to hear some amazing, terribly unpronounceable names, watch Senator Stampingston's introductions to experts in Metalocalypse. I'm pretty sure the writers make these up purely to screw with Mark Hamill.

My personal favourite: Milminiman Lamilim Swimwambly

Actually, Kathleen mentioning the Jameson prompted me to look for an animated gif of one, and as far as I can tell there are none. Weird. I was certain I'd at least be able to find one taken from Tachikomatic Days, but apparently not.

Man, you guys just reminded me that I actually went and saw the X/1999 movie in a theater in Seattle. And yet... I can't recall a damn thing about it. Other than it was completely nonsensical, of course.

Final Fantasy VII has been re-released for download from the PSN Store. Sure, it'd be nice if they re-released a physical copy, but it is there.

I think A Little TOO Human would be great as a full length film. The war with the bears would make for great special effects.
