I saw them play a show once in Chicago at a venue in Bucktown and it was one of the loudest concerts I've ever seen. I had to leave and come back with earplugs because I was getting dizzy and nauseous. I was sort of let down by the concert but it was fun to see those three guys in the flesh. (Although I had once seen Bill Laswell play with Herbie Hancock. it was the first time I'd ever seen John Zorn live, and I think it was the only time I saw Mick Harris.)

Now, 14 years later, I find myself living where they recorded all of that stuff and I walk by the new Knitting Factory space when I go to the train. It's sort of funny how so many of the most avante garde musicians of the 80's and 90's were apparently living in a neighborhood of oil refineries and Polish bakeries.

I am sooooooo jealous right now.

Indeed it is, however I pretty much love all of the pillows discography... Can't wait to get back to Japan to finally see a show of them!

I've just got the new Secret Chiefs 3/Traditionalists album, so anything off that. In particular Agenda 21 and Codex Alimentarius, both of which are simultaneously really funky and really menacing, and Mourning In Ekstasis for its wonderful warm sounds and harmonies.

I really should get a hold of that album at some point. Thing is, I vaguely remember mentioning at as a Christmas present, so I have to wait to see if I get it. :P

I've been listening to a tout le monde a lot since I went to a megadeth concert recently and the sound was terrible on vocals so I just wanted to rehear the vocals than i noticed how crazy the song is and how much i enjoyed it.

And the rest of the album. For those that don't know, it's Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones kickin' ass.

Personally, I didn't like the album upon first listening.

Then I listened to it again. "Oh hey, Scumbag Blues is pretty good! Sweet bass part!"
Then I listened to it again. "Oh sweet, Reptiles is good too."
Then again. "HOLY SHIT HOW DID I MISS SPINNING IN DAISIES!?"
Then again. "Oh man, Gunman is killer."

They're definitely a band that's grown on me very quickly. :P They have a very strange sound, but I find it very enjoyable. It's like Alternate Blues if I could give it a genre.

Don't stop me now by Queen, not because of Bill's phail. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0LgBUMlvwk So epic with the game sound effects added on

Also Bang the Drum all day ny Rob Lundgren
I ran so Far Away by Flock of Seagulls.

They are both extremely epic with cranked bass.

And Captain Tractor's Last Saskatchewn Pirate cover is always a favorite.

Love that song, easily my favourite Beatles song. Mind you, I Am The Walrus and Here Comes The Sun are also quite excellent.

To throw in my Dream Theatre opinions: Octavarium is my favourite. If nothing else, PANIC ATTACK!

Never Enough is the only one from that album that regularly finds itself in my playlists.

EDIT: Just put it on.... okay, Panic Attack as well now. How did I forget about it?

Yeah, I really like Never Enough too. Still, Panic Attack and Pull Me Under are my two favourites of DT's.

Found a band through Collegehumour, Typical by Mutemath. These guys are good as, downloaded some more of their stuff and I'm really liking it so far. Spent all day at work listening to it.

If you're wondering, that link is to their official video - Seen The Scientist video by Coldplay? Similar kind of thing. Trust me though, if you can get your hands on a high quality version of the song - sounds about a hundred times better. (Shocking that, I know.)

Edit: These guys are on Rock Band? Holy mother of - SO BOUGHT.

Sun Bear Concerts by Keith Jarrett, especially the Sapporo concert. They needs intensive, or, well, quite intensive listening, but they're beautifull.

Also: Ready Able (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Puph1hejMQE) by Grizzly Bear (nice music video too!) and the rest of the Veckatimest Album
