My city got covered in snow just in time, how's yours?

Postby epocalypse » 19 Dec 2009, 20:14

So I've been at it all day (or since noon when i finally managed to stay awake, and I remember looking outside the windows this morning at nothing but good old Greenwich Village with not a speck of ice on her. So, through out the day, working on one of my three remaining assignments (take home philosophy exam, 75% complete), Watching old tv shows online to break, trying to clean, etc, and all day my feet are getting colder and colder. Finally, about 30 minutes ago I realize that my windows are all iced over, and that the city is covered in snow. And I think, Ah-Ha, so that's why my feet are cold, so I got some socks on and typed this up and wondered how I didn't notice an entire city ice up all glittery and such. Should have been pretty obvious, right? So anyone else have their towns go into a new state while they weren't paying any attention?

You know, they are even more sirens when it snows. And they just kind of bounce around the city, bounding off empty space when people don't go outside.

... I really need more socks.

Yup, Middlesbrough is presently covered in snow to a depth of an inch or two. Not sure how Darlington is doing though, will likely find out on Tuesday when I ostensibly go home for a week during the Christmas hols.

We have snow forecasted for Christmas Eve. So that'd be great timing!

You guys are in a strange part of Canada, Graham, you know that. But still, as you noted: Snow!

(No one in NYC knows how to handle it either).

It's cold, dry, and not a single snowflake in sight. Darn this Oklahoma weather.

Really? I saw snow today and I just smiled. Then I saw at least 10cm more. Then I...smiled more.

We had some snow here last week, it was actually quite the storm. Then it warmed up and rained, most of it melted and it's just ice that's left. Oh and now it's effing cold. I dunno if we're forecasted for snow for Christmas but I hope we get a bit.

But I am often pleasantly surprised when I walk out of a class and its raining outside. Call me crazy I love the rain.

I love rain too, just not as much as snow.

We got a fresh covering of the stuff today, though their forcasted amount of 10 inches never came. I live in the mountains, and we got some, but th cities south of us apparently got smashed. That, my friends, is a Nor'easter.

Assuming his location field isn't an elaborate lie, he'd recognize it as "long island".
Also, shouldn't that be "which island"?

...what's probably Victoria? What? Who? J-what are you talking about?

Anyway, I cam completely relate to you about our shared snow situation Cybren, I'm just not so geographically egocentric that I don't think that other islands would call themselves "the island".

I love observing people that are used to certain climates being put in a different environment and seeing how they cope. It will be +3C here, and people are in parkas, while I'm in a dress still pretty warm.
-6C is the coldest it gets here, and that is the END of all things.
I'm so glad i grew up where it gets to-55C.
