Games you were late to the party for.

Postby Intellectually funky » 21 Dec 2009, 13:16

since its like 5 dollars for a used PS2 game or Xbox game I have really gotten back into the last gen games. I am always a sucker for good platformers so I got the Sly Cooper games for less then 10 dollars and the Jak games for almost 15... I have to say these are some fantastic games especially the Sly Cooper games.

anybody else have this happen?

How late is late? I think I was late for Katamari Damacy and really late for Final Fantasy VI, which I still haven't finished.

Im late for just about every game, the only games I get when they come out are games that I will really want.
Like games by Valve or Frictional.

Final Fantasy X, because I was rather behind in getting a PS2, so I missed the "hype".

Other than that, Halo 3 maybe? Same kind of reason though. Hell, I never played Halo 2. At all. o.o

Hm.. I guess there were a couple of other games that I'd bought after the major hype had died out, but after a while, I kinda caught up.

Pretty much every game, too cheap to pay full price for anything. Just bought a PS*2* a few months ago...

It's cheaper and less stress. If a game sucks, oh well, only paid $5 for it.

Too many to count, haha.

Just recently it's been FEAR 2, Dead Space, Tales of Vesperia, and Prince of Persia.

I still have an unopened copy of Shadow of the Colossus I haven't even touched yet.

I'm usually late when it comes to buying new releases. If there's a sale on something I'm interested in, I'll bite. But usually, I'll wait a bit before jumping onton something. If I'm really interested, I'll bite first week, but that only happens with things like Fallout 3 and the like.

I'll be getting Assassin's Creed 2 later, for example.

But I usually don't bother with any games that were critically acclaimed or popular unless I am actually interested in it to begin with, and if I never bought it, it becomes less likely that I will over time.

So I haven't really jumped on anything that are years old or anything.

Usually, I get games pretty soon after they come out. I can't even really think of a game that I was late to the party for. Maybe WoW, but I don't think that counts since it's regularly updated and I don't play it anymore.

Everything I currently have for the PS2, which isn't much: Batman and Prototype. I think the only "current" game I'll be getting for it is FFXIII

Castlevania : Symphony of the Night (Played for the first time in '03.)

Fallout 3 (I was all "It looks like another lame-ass shooter." until I started playing and I got outside the Vault. Then I felt like singing the "Golden Ticket" song. This was just a couple of months ago, and I really want to kick myself in the head for not getting this game sooner.)

I didn't play Halo 1 until '04. I liked it but I hate 2 and 3.

Mega Man 2. (I didn't get to this one until just 3 years ago. I'm an idiot.)

MGS2 and the Project Zero series. Only recently taken them up, since I never owned an xbox/PS2, and only have had the chance to play them now I have the 360 or can borrow a PS2 from my little brother who has moved on to the PS3.
Man, I think I've missed a lot of great games.

as a poor student and an even poorer intern, I usually end up waiting a little while before getting the games I want. But it's not just retro stuff, even with current gen games there is such a massive difference in price if you wait just a couple of months- for instance, about this time last year Fable II was ~£45-50, now it is ~£15, which means I can get more games :) , or food

That and if you get a game when it first comes out and everyones talking about it, it kinda gets in the way of my experience of playing it, y'know?

It's never too late for a single player game. If there's no longer online players, or they're all better, then you're in trouble.

I bought Battlefield 2 soon after it came out. Then I had a registry error that knocked me out of action for 2 years. I came back with an NCO rank when all my former clanmates were generals. With weapon unlocks (and the unlockable weapons are better), that means something.
