Patrick Stewart is finally knighted at age 69. It takes a celebrated Shakespearean actor until 69 to be knighted and he celebrates with, "designers, restaurateurs and two famous names from Formula 1 racing." I guess you have to keep up with the times, but Formula 1 racing?

Hooray!
Consider this signature a museum piece, since I love it and am unlikely to change it ever.

The awesome/crazy thing about the internet? I first heard about this from Brent Spiner. We are most definitely living in the future.

Heard it from LeVar Burton's Twitter.
Hurray for Sir Captain Picard!
Oh, and all the other work he's done that's significantly more important.

You just made knighthood a lot less impressive sounding.

Re: Sir Patrick Stewart
Peter Jackson is being knighted in his native New Zealand. Considering that he is one of the most prominent New Zealanders (what other Kiwis can you name? I can think of Edmond Hillary, Ernest Rutherford, Russell Crowe and a few rugby players. Oh and the flight of the Concords) it is quite natural for him to be given one of his nations highest honours.
In the Canadian New Years honours list, Mario Lemieux has been made a Officer of the Order of Canada, the Canadian equivalent of a knighthood.

Really I don't think this is much of a surprise, really it's more that it's taken him this long to be knighted that's the surprising thing.
He's super cool and doesn't afraid of anything.

To clarify, Jensen Button (F1 Driver) didn't get a knighthood, he got an OBE.

Brabham was 73 when he was knighted, and Jackie Stewart as something like 62...

Have to do more than win 1 WDC, otherwise we'd have Jacque Villeneuve knighted, which would really degrade the whole thing...
