Green Job
Green Job
By popular request (that being, the 10 people on Twitter who said "Yes!") here's a look at the special effects behind The Job.
It took me a while, but I'm so happy with the results.

Very nice indeed.

Re: Green Job
Nice. I hadn't really thought about how much green-screening was involved. I guess James was the only one who didn't require any.
Also I have to wonder, how does Ray feel about having hands that could be so easily pass for Kathleen's? lol

Re: Green Job
Awesome effects! I didn't realize how complicated the effects in "The Job" were until I saw this. Great work.
Also, Tim needs to wear that outfit in more videos.

Re: Green Job
That just made all the effort you put into that effort even MORE awesome. I adore green screen work, especially after Drew Carey's Green Screen Show, after catching up on it on YouTube. You should be as proud of yourself as we are of you, Graham!
Re: Green Job
Fantastic! Looks like Kathleen and Ray had a lot of fun shooting the Clone Battle...
Consider this signature a museum piece, since I love it and am unlikely to change it ever.
Re: Green Job
That bonus video was really well done. And so quickly after starting the escapist deal....I hope this trend continues.

Re: Green Job
The lobster part was hilarious. I lost it when it switched to green screen. Great editing job, Graham.
Re: Green Job
Whoa I am impressed, it's all ways helpful to watch these kinds of things just to see if I can ever replicate those kinds of special effects.
Well done guys.

Re: Green Job
I've said it before and I'll say it again: your best green-screening yet.

Re: Green Job
How did you suddenly manage to get so good at greenscreening? It's not that long ago since I remember seeing outlines of hair and such "fombling" around.. (For the lack of a better word...which I probably would have found if it wasn't 6am in the morning..).
This, and the Tucson or Bust video has none of that. Even though you KNOW its there, and you can see it looks unatural at times (Kathleens clones move around a bit sluggishly..I'm suspecting different camera angles compared to where they are put in the clip), but the bad clipping is completely gone.
Where was I? Oh yes, great job!

Coolest, outfit, ever!
Re: Green Job
You held up pieces of green material behind the floating objects?
That is brilliant in its simplicity. Outstanding!

As someone who has no idea how all that stuff works, it is even more impressive when I see all the effort broken down piece by piece. Awesome!
Think lazy, not crazy.

I'm pretty sure they just held them in front of their pre-existing green-screen wall, but essentially, yeah. The simple way is usually the best.

Re: Green Job
Ooo this was awesome. When watching The Job, I didn't even think about/notice all the green screen work. So to see this little behind the scenes was really interesting.
~I'm probably not serious~
Oh and you can just call me Dave.
No need for the whole screen name.

Re: Green Job
Like everyone else has said, I pretty much took all the green-screen stuff for granted watching the video, but seeing it without the effects just made my jaw hit the floor.
Though making the lobster giant by holding it close to the camera made me laugh, because it is just so awesomely simple.
Also cool to hear Bradley's music again.

It's just various people talking and sometimes they do things in brackets

This! I thought that technique was hilarious.
Also, not only is the video slick but the behind the scenes stuff is now incredibly slick apparently too! Listen to that slick music beating along in the background! Its a bit different from Tim wandering around with a camera (which is awesome in itself mind you).
Nothing to see here.

Really cool, I always like seeing scenes being made without special effects.

Re: Green Job
Damn that was really cool to watch...
How long does that type of thing take?
I didn't realise Jer floating wasn't real though... bummer.

I really like what you did with it. That gave me a new respect for green screening. I especially liked the shot of Jer where you showed the separate layers.

Re: Green Job
I seriously wish I had the tech to do that kind of greenscreening, that is awesome.

I may not be a twitter but let me add another Yes! to that. I enjoy these clips with behind the scene footage and special effects in the making because you don't always reflect on the hours of work put in to those minutes of video we see every week and to get a glimpse of the process makes one appreciate it even more. But mostly it's the lol factor. Lol, giant lobster.

Re: Green Job
Very awesome. Loved the overhead shot of the objects circling Jer. And brava Kathleen for coming up with so many awesome clone faces.
Re: Green Job
Hooray for being part of popular demand!
This whole thing was cool to watch, but I think seeing Kathleen pretending to menace herself was the best. I also seem to notice something new every time I see that shot of Matt. That would be Pitfall, wouldn't it?
