My girl friend is interested in trying out some video games
Now, she hasn't played many since the PS1 but she said that she enjoyed some. Now she is a Tolkien nut so I figured the good ol fantasy games would be right up her ally. Also, she seems to like racing games so I got a used copy of Burnout 3 (my fav in the series) for us to muck around in.
But what is the game she latches onto the most? Even after I show her Kingdom Hearts, The Sims3 and some Final Fantasy?
She has the greatest reasoning too: "My work sucks and after a day of dealing with crabby people who think I am trying to screw them out of their meds I need to blow someone's head off." She is a keeper!

Why do I love the blinking street lights so much?

You need to put a ring on that.

Agreed. A girl who's into Fallout is one you want to keep around.

I was actually wondering what good games were to introduce your girlfriend to (no, I don't call that a grammatically correct sentence). She has a Wii and a DS, but I have a PS3 and a PC that can run most games, so I wanted to show her some less casual games. Any ideas as to what to start out with?
Well, hallo there.

Hmmm...KOTR and Mass Effect are both good to introduce her to RPGs, Call of Duty is a decent introduction into FPSs, as are Borderlands and Fallout, even if they have many RPG elements. The Red Alert series is always good for RTSs, or you can go oldschool with Starcraft or Warcraft. Oh, and before Matt gets here, Uncharted for the PS3.

What I would do is give her DS and Wii games, and then play games you like around her and see which one she picks.

Civ is a great intro to strategy, since its turn based people can take as much time as needed...and its easy to play but difficult to master.

Get The Orange Box! She'll love Portal. Just hope that she doesn't get all the medals like my girlfirend did & gloat about it for months.

If she likes RPGs and you have a PS2 then I highly suggest any of the Shin Megami Tensei games. Especially Persona 4, girls LOVE that game.
But really, just show games you like. Women may have different bits down stairs but they're still people and will enjoy the same things.

~I'm probably not serious~
Oh and you can just call me Dave.
No need for the whole screen name.

Oddly enough, my girlfriend had a bit of a girly-girl streak going, really only playing games like The Sims and The Movies. Someone queued her into some RPGs, and has since played heavily some Fable II, Dynasty Warriors 4, and Elder Scrolls III.
Currently, she loves Guitar Hero and is on a never-ending quest to find the perfect "Fable-equivalent" PS2 game.

My ex went from looking on DOAX2 with disdain to trying to get every swimsuit in the game, often commenting "Oh that is CUTE!"

Warning: If your 'girlfriend' has a Wii, you should at least let her get to the post-op stage before calling her such.
With that said, if a girl wants a good bit of fun with no morals, any GTA game is fun. I know my sister thinks it is hillarious to pick up hookers, shoot folks, and run em over. It's also casual when you want it to be, or more involved when you know what you're doing and are later in the game.
Zelda is extremely fun and easy to hop into. End of story. Metroid is like Zelda, but with futuristic weaponry.
Hockey games could be good because it will also get her into an amusing sport.
A good flight sim like IL2 Sturmovik: 1946 (includes the original and 5 expansions for $20) is great if ya'll like planes. Computer version only, need a joystick, throttle is highly recommended.
If all else fails, just get some poker chips and cards out, and whoever runs out of chips first has to remove her clothing.

I recommend introducing new gamers to a JRPG... some people like them, some don't, but I think everyone should give it a shot.

Why is there a combat flight sim set after the end of World War 2?

It's a what-if scenario. You can't let all those great designs go to waste, some of which worked, partially worked, would have worked, or needed tweaking. The Germans had all kinds of crazy designs, every country pretty much had a few jet designs moving, and there were even some rocket planes in the mix.
In short, the IL2 team had already made several expansions that were great, and they likely needed a new (and final) one as a good excuse to box em all together for dirt f'ing cheap. Why not add new, interesting planes (and still retain historical value) when a new release is pending? It's not like they've been working on their next flight sim with few informational releases for it in the past 5+ years, since the release of 1946...

try something on the ds like mario ds or animal crossing if they don't work then just try causal games on the computer.

This.
Honestly though, Persona 4 (and I'd imagine 3, though I've yet to actually play it) is an amazing game and is one that girls seem to really get into. Plus its an absolutely cracking RPG so you'd get some fun out of it as well!
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon on the Wii and FF Fables: Chocobo Tales on the DS both really cute games that have really good game play and are generally pretty awesome games that both you and your girlfriend should be able to get into! With all of these though, be prepared to stick with it for the long haul, SMT is looooooong and Chocobo's Dungeon is surprisingly deep!
