Bah, can't find Clock Tower or Fatal Frame.

I've wanted to check out the Condemned series, but I don't know where to start.

Also, if anyone knows of games like Penumbra: Black Plague, definitely tell me. Because that game was fantastic in atmosphere and gameplay. I don't like combat heavy horror games, because they don't give you that sense of helplessness that really gets to you.

the Condemned series starts with Condemned: Criminal Origins, and the second one is Condemned: Bloodshot.

I haven't played either, except the Demo for the first one which was awesome...it reminded me a lot of the first FEAR.

Clock Tower is a very old game, you'll either need to find a copy on amazon or get a ROM of it. Fatal Frame should be carried by some game stores still I think, if not just grab any of the sequels since there's no continuity between them.

Both of the Condemneds are good, but the first one has a far better story.

I like some of the things they added for the 2nd Condemned, like the ability to holster a firearm, combos with melee weapons, environment kills, and more things to do with the detective segments.

Gameplay they did improve in Blood shot and the story was doing great up until midway through the game.

All true. but the finale for Criminal Origins is one of gaming's best, I think. Very simple in it's execution, and very effective.

Silent hill series (not homecomeing).

they are good games not to ation heavy, and they gave me one hell of a fright, followed but more and more frights and a overwhelming sense of dread.

I don't get why people have a beef with Homecoming, I thought it was very well done for a Silent Hill game.

My problem with Homecomeing is the way it combat was handled, for example ammo I found was more common, with a focus on killing everything you come across rather than trying to find away around it.

they brought in the Prymid head for pure fan service the whole thing behind silent hill is that the town creates the monsters based upon someones psyche, the Pc in HC and the PC in 2(the first apperance of PH) is completely diffrent. Also he is introduced in a cutscene in 2 he was just standeing behind a grate which was alot more scary.

those are my major problems with homecoming i have a few more like the amount of people in the game (as standered enemys).

ohh i dont like SH origins either.

though im hoping Alan Wake turns out good.

The first boss battle pretty much put me off the game.

Plus, there was no suspense. It was just... MONSTER!

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I've been hearing great things about silent hill: shattered memories.

No weapons at all just a flashlight and a few psyche tests
I think it won or came close to winning best wii game on giantbomb.

I think I'll be renting it in a week or 2 and I'll let you know more

Ah, Resident Evil 4's always good. The regenerators made me shake so hard I had trouble aiming.

Resident Evil 4 is less horror than Barbie's Horse Adventure.

Wrong actually. Can you say Alessa Gillespie?

I enjoyed Homecoming. More than I enjoyed 3 to be honest, I never could get into that one. I'm looking forward to Shattered Memories though, that needs to come out over here soon.

RE4 was in general not scary, APART from the Regenerators, which are freaky as all hell.

Clock Tower fuckin' traumatised me when I played it. Although I was about 10 at the time, I think.

I prefered Homecoming because of its story, which is damn scary as hell. I admit the combat is a bit easy and the boss fights just as easy but I like how the story advances the power of Silent Hill and how it and the orders power is spreading further out into the world rather then diminishing.

Hey, guys. Just wanted to say thanks for getting me replaying Clock Tower when I should be getting organised for nine weeks away from home. Good job!

Also, I've just discovered that Yahtzee did Special Editions of his Chzo Mythos games, so I'll have to replay them for old times' sake.

Sadly, I won't have access to anything I could play Clock Tower on in the middle of three hundred square kilometres of wildlife reserve. Also, I would hope that the people I'm going to be working with can spell my name correctly.

Frictional games is currently working on a new game, so expect a penumbra-like horror game released sometime this year.

Honestly, they are brilliant! The bonus stuff like soundtracks and additional material is really awesome and the bonus commentary is absolutely hilarious! The only downside is that since you've already played them, they'll be over much faster, plus you'll have clues and stuff pointing things out with the commentary as well. Not that that is a bad thing though, as Yahtzee managed to point out several things that I had actually missed on my original play-throughs!
