Official Unskippable Suggestion Thread.

Postby Dave-O_Boy » 12 Feb 2010, 03:35

In the most recent podcast, a question was asked about having an official suggestion thread for Unskippable. Graham said it was a good idea. No thread was made. So here we go!
Now none of you adoring Unskippable fans with all your awesome suggestions will have to PM/E-mail Graham or Paul, and can just post them here! Brilliant!

(Obviously this thread will have to be moved by one of the LRR crew since normal members can't make threads in the Unskippable forum.)

Now let the suggestions start!

Here's a few I'd like to see sometime:
Any of Legacy of Kain games. Particularly the original Blood Omen and Soul Reaver 2(Partly for the easy but hilarious Star-Gate reference).
Youtube links:
Blood Omen (starts 1:05 ~ ends 5:54)
-There is a bit of gameplay, but you have to die and well that could be funny.
-It's available on the PSN for around $6.
Soul Reaver 2
-This one may be a bit too long.
-You may want to do the 1st Soul Reaver just to make this one to make more sense. And if you do them back to back you could throw in a "And some gameplay later!" joke. heh.

RE: Code Veronica X (Starts 1:09)

Koudelka
-This one will be hard to come by, but I don't mind sending you my copy if you promise to send it back.
-I'd really love to see one done most of all.

Digital Devil Saga 2 Part 2
-Since you did the 1st one, I think this one would work as well. Even though the games are sequential I don't think there would be any problem with being lost from lack of knowledge. It basically recaps the whole 1st game without really giving away spoilers, if that makes any sense.

Here's some others I looked through, but didn't think they'd be good for Unskippable:
Galerians: Ash - Awesome, but only 2 minutes long.
Wilds ARMs 4 and 5 - both too short.
Suikoden 3 - d'oh no voice acting.
~I'm probably not serious~
Oh and you can just call me Dave.
No need for the whole screen name.

It should be in the Unskippable forum I would think. Waiting for one of the Crew to move it.

Mass effect 2. It is long and there is a great moment for the "Thats's the 7th time I died." joke they like to use.

Brütal Legend, mebbe?

I'm sitting here thinking of possible candidates, but when I go to check the actual introductions to each, I kinda go "Eh, that wouldn't work".

~Alja~

Addendnum: Okay, came across this randomly, Drake of The 99 Dragons. It looks utterly perfect to rip into, although I can't seem to find the actual opening cutscene so I can't be sure.

The thing about ME2 is that it's far too interactive. Alone in the dark worked because it was basically blinking with a little head movement. And Last Remnant worked because it was pretty much a "Show More Cutscene" button.

But, ME tends to blend the cutscenes into the game.

I'd suggest going with RE 1 2 & 3.

ME2 has a good 6-7 minutes of just cut-scenes. The only thing you do in the beginning is say one line and walk to Joker.

I would suggest GTA Vice City, San Andreas, and GTA4, but not sure how much swearing you'd tolerate in the videos.

What game systems do you have to use?

Three lines.

Two to Ash, One to Joker.

SWEET JEEBUS, I'VE STUCK GOLD!

Hybrid Heaven!

One of my favorite N64 games, with a fabulously TERRIBLE cutscene with lots of lulz, even in the cutscene itself. Bizarre and hilarious, great pacing and space for jokes. Six minutes too, so it's pretty much perfect.

Oh my god, I think I still have a cartridge for it. I liked the insanely cliché ending cutscene.

Okay, here's another potential. It's rather short, but it is just... how can you cram this much batshit into a single game, AND make it look kinda cool in the process?

Metal Wolf Chaos

The plotline is something like: in the future America has gone to pot and become corrupt up the wazoo. There's some terrible military coup d'etat, and things are bad. So the former president gets into a mech and goes apeshit on the usurpers, who are led by his former vice president. He basically singlehandedly hands the American military it's ass while spouting terrible one liners and blowing up everything in sight.

I started typing that up, but couldn't remember how long it was.

My suggestion? The opening cinematic for Unreal Tournament 3. It's pretty damn long considering it's a UT game and it's just ripe for mockery.

More suggestions to follow. Eventually.

Tim, Graham, Paul, and Jer all mod the Unskippable forum, so any of them would be good. Though your best bet is probably Paul.

While Paul is generally your best bet for just about everything, he's probably still on vacation at the moment.

If I remember correctly the opening scene for the first Halo game would be a pretty easy target to be made fun of. It may be worth doing a video of that.

And if it wasn't obvious enough, Final Fantasy XIII should be on your hit list when it comes out if it isn't already.

The introduction is too short for a good Unskippable.

I realize some game play would be involved, but for my money the worst voice acting ever was in House of the Dead 2.

"We're meeting G over THERE!"
"Suffer like G DID?"

Then again, the whole thing might just invoke rad nauseum and not work at all.
