Holy Kate Stark, Batman!

Postby Niko88 » 09 Jan 2010, 00:17

I just watched Edited for TV which was from way back in July of 05 and I couldn't recognize who the girl was in the Yummiez add. I don't know if it was just because they were stills or what but Kate looked a lot different back then and I don't really know why.

Graham, did you recast your sister? All joking aside it is really interesting to go back to some of the earlier videos and see just how different some of the cast look over the span of 4 or 5 years. I want to pull up a picture of me at 17 just to see how much different I look now

People change a lot over puberty, and Kate wouldn't have even being in High School when LRR started (I think...I worked out the chronology at one point, but I forget now). Hell, the weirdest thing about shaving the beard I've had for the last couple was years was that, because I was still in high school and changing shape when I started it, my facial structure/chin was noticeably different from what I had the last time I saw it.

In a podcast or DVD commentary, Graham breifly mentioned her Punk phase. =P

Actually Kate is a character that Graham made up and plays. Think about it, have you ever seen them on the screen, and if so have you forgotten how talented at editing Graham is?
~I'm probably not serious~
Oh and you can just call me Dave.
No need for the whole screen name.

Graham filmed a series of Yummies ads for a video class (I believe) & used Kate during her punk phase to show how the Yummies corporation was appealing to a newer generation. The ads are included as a bonus on the Season 3 DVD set. Evidently she had some fun "taking the piss out of herself" for that, as Graham put it in the commentary.

You know, I've never seen the ads, but every time someone brings them up I think of the scene in Battle Royale, when they are watching the video of the girl who is explaining the rules of the game and what supplies are in their bag.

Fake edit: This scene

I think they are on the Season 4 set, since I have seen them and I don't have Season 3. I nitpick only because if someone really wanted to see them, the DVD is actually available.

Kate was a little ankle biter when LRR were in high school. When I see her in videos now I totally don't recognize her as how she looked as a kid.

Well, if Graham (or Kate) read this, does Kate live in Vancouver then? I am pretty sure I know this answer but, what the hell, I will find out again.

I do still live in Victoria.

[I only just found this thread, which is why I haven't responded until now...]

Also! I never actually got to see those Punk Yummies ads... I just remembered filming them. Any way someone could get those somewhere that I could see it?

Were there more appearances of Yummies-Snake-Cake-Girl than just Edited for TV?

Bonus DVD content which was originally a project Graham did for school.

So, funny story, Kate looks a little like a friend of mine's kid brother at about the same age. This isn't because Kate looks especially masculine either 0.0.
