Whats in a Username?

As most people I started out with those rather over-the-top names because my mind was clouded by that teenage romantic filter where everything is poetic and grand. Angelus_Safira or various combinations of it was my first one, mostly because I have always been a bit obsessed with angels and my favourite color at the time was blue.

I moved on to fantasy-ish names that I used everywhere since guess what, I'm a big fan of elves too. Valadhiel and Seratia got a few registers, still do actually.


I got pretty tired of these names a while back and decided to get a new nick to reinvent myself on the internet. I asked my friend the writer for advice and he blurted out ten names just like that, one of them being Tinasaur and the one name that caught my fancy. Tina is what all my friends call me (short for Christina) and the extra saur? Well because dinosaurs are awesome, that's why! And ofcourse I would like my new nick to be associated with awesome, so yeah there you go.

I can't remember any usernames before GHOVO, it evolved into xGHOVOx due to it just looking really boring.

But anything before GHOVO probably had some big and stupid process behind it I thought was cool.

My name was created back in 1989, I have been using it ever since.(on the internet when possible.)

Wart Jr. is one of the frog villagers in Animal Crossing for the Gamecube. I came up with it shortly after the release of that game, so I was 13 at the time. The 2373 is a random letter combination that I used to ensure that my name was unique, though I've later found that in almost every situation, wartjr is not in use.

Anyway, it just sorta stuck. I like to have a consistent online persona, even if I don't frequently post everywhere else. You can find me on various other websites under the same name, but don't expect much. Except on GameFAQs, I did actually make a couple of submissions.

When I was a little kid, I wanted a cool Star Wars name, being a Star Wars nerd. So, I ended up trying to make something that sounded "Star Warsy." I got Vohn just by saying John (I think some Biblical influence there), and just adding a V.

Exel sounded like a Star Wars last name to me. Solo, Organa, Skywalker, these were all...things. So I thought of Exel. Only, it was supposed to be "Excel" like I excel in something. But I have terrible spelling, and so it ended up like that, and I liked it enough to not change it.

Now, the interesting thing is, I hate sports. So I don't know sports people or thier names. But, it turns out that there is a basketball player named Van Exel who was playing around the time I grew up. I thought I was being original so I hope this isn't the case, but it's possible that what I thought was an original name was really just something I heard and emulated without even knowing it. Luckily, I'll never know.

Mine was pretty randomly choice, I bought a new gaming machine that was delivered few hours before a blizzard that lasted a week (so got like 5 days of paid vacation to play games on the plus side). Setting up one of the games a few hours into the blizzard it demanded a username to continue and sitting next to a window I saw crap load of snow coming down. Originally was going to change it to something better later but after leaving it for a few months decided to run with it.

I don't actually remember where I got Kara from initially, but I started using the name as my character name in MMORPGs, then in forums when I started being a regular on a few different forums around the time I joined up on the LRR boards. (I use MoreMegan now on most forums, and on my accounts at sites but this is just such an old account. I think it's my only active Kara account left on anything.)

-Edit- I forgot to mention where MoreMegan came from, but it arose when I was making a YouTube channel and wanted something kinda catchy in case I wanted to start making videos on YouTube. I believe my friend actually tossed it out when I'd mentioned the idea, and it stuck, so I've used it for YouTube and Playlist.com and so on.

Fun fact, I've been on this forum for 4 years as of last month. Feels good. Looking through the members list, I'm one of the oldest forum members left that is still currently posting regularly.
Yup, that's right, joined this forum when I was 14. =)
