What is the fakest sounding real word/name you can think of.

Postby zfubarz » 15 Jun 2010, 13:06

I gotta go with Flugelhorn.

I know it's a real instrument, but it's just a big trumpet basically, why's the name gotta be so crazy.

What have you got?

Whiffleball. Completely absurd.

Though, most any word sounds absurd if you say it often enough. Semantic satiation FTW.

Scuba's an anagram so I don't think that counts.

I always thought that an acronym was a word formed by taking the first letters of several words to create a new one, while an anagram is a word made by rearranging letters.

And seeing as S.C.U.B.A. stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, it's very likely that it's not an anagram.

So, yes, she lied.
