The LyinginbedMimm Engagement Thread
So apparently this is a massive event for folks beyond simply posting in the Happy Relationship thread, so here we are.
Vikkie (Mimm) and I started dating on January 1st of this year, today is our 7 month anniversary. We talked for over a month online before actually meeting up IRL, where we almost immediately fell into calling it love, and things only intensified with time. It wasn't long into the relationship that I knew there wasn't anyone else I'd rather spend the rest of my life with.
About a fortnight ago, Vikkie mentioned in passing that she wouldn't mind getting engaged around now, making the agreed distinction between an engagement (promising to get married someday) and marrying.
I bought a ring on Tuesday, and Vikkie came up yesterday for a holiday and a little time either side for us to just be cuddly and mushy.
Whilst watching Office Space and cuddling up, I proposed with the ring, much to her surprise (I'd told her I had a question to ask but amazingly that was the only one she'd not considered).
Much to my jubilation, she said yes.
Now, we have discussed engagements and marriage before in a non-serious context and always agreed that whilst an engagement could start anytime, the marriage itself would have to wait at least 5 years for both of us to finish university, get somewhere to live and generally settle into "adult life".
My intention is that the ring she has now is an engagement ring, to be supplemented by a full-on wedding ring at that time, when I give her the incredibly geeky proposal she truly deserves. Possibly involving a custom map in Portal 2, or 6 by then, who knows.
And to anyone thinking to parachute into the ceremony: We will have plenty of time to book the AA turrets.

I don't think I've ever said GAGAGAGA in my life. But I've probably approximated to it
