Walking with wolves
Have anyone done it?
That is to say, have anyone made an appointment with their local wildlife park to be allowed inside the pen?.
Would anyone here like to/already done so?
I recieved the check in cash-in for a meeting with the wolves at my local wildlife park. Its going to be soon becuase visits arent allowed after a week in november.
I am very happy to pay and volunter to be snack for the big dogies with big, big teeth! . I have always loved wolves and have since early childhood had: cats, dogs, turtles, chickens and some "walking sticks"(translate it later)
Maybe. . .if I amlucky I might get lychantropy!. . . .just have to plan carefully.

Yeah, I'll be over here, far away from the wolves. Not that I have anything against them, I just see no need to be in their territory and risking provoking them.

+1
I think the only way that could be more dangerous is if you covered yourself in bacon first. Colossally bad idea.

is it just because i'm young, that i think this is a good move?

Re: Walking with wolves
I had a friend who worked at a wolf park. They would often let individuals have limited guided visits inside the enclosure with handlers around and only the most well tempered animals available for interaction. It's certainly very cool but I'll say the same thing to you as he did to me. Never under any circumstances forget that they are wild animals, no matter how docile or domesticated they appear. If they decide it's in their best interests that you not be there they will take actions to ensure it. Follow all the instructions given by the handlers diligently, especially when it comes to preparation (i.e. on use of scented soaps, deodorant, detergent, etc). And take pictures!

Ah yes, sorry. I meant supervised visit/guided tour (not really). You get in the pen with a guide met a pack of mild-mannered beasties and get a few licks and sniffes. I have a friend who have done it and she said it was really cool.
aeric90: too true, its a common mistake to go all "whose a cute doooogieee".
That and "be calm". Hey if ya wnat I can try to post them here ( if anyone wants).

Sweden stockholm, local park "kolmården". I also spend some time up north where the wolfes live. People up there have a "wolffobia" and hate/fear them. Wolfes are generally safe but bears on the other hand. . . . ..they dont let you in the pen.

Re: Walking with wolves
I'd be far more frightened of a wolf than a bear in the wild. Mostly because a) I have far more experience with bears, but also b) if you see one wolf... where's the rest of them?

Wherewolf. . . .There wolf!.
Yes but a healthy wolf smells you atleast a kilometer away. So they will feel you before you spot them, but perhaps that is the bad part. . . .XD

Mostly black bears. Though, to characterize them as 'small' is, perhaps, inaccurate. Thems big muthertruckers.

Re: Walking with wolves
aye I meant in relation to their larger friends over here. My grandpa have met one in the woods and have had another in his backyard, He has also crashed inte a mose that ran over the road at the wrong time (most die, them heavy). That time he had such a low car the mose fell "over the car" and hit the trunk.

Re: Walking with wolves
My dad used to run a wolf preserve in Ontario, and I used to work at the Vancouver Aquarium. Wildlife encounter stuff is a great deal of fun, yes, but as with all wild animals, you have to remember that they are "wild."
That that orca down in florida killed that trainer that was using him as a surf board was not the whale's fault, it was the idiot using a 6 tonne predator as a surf board's. Wolves have very specific behavioral requirements from humans, the most important of which being that you let them approach if they choose to. Never approach them. If they approach you, put yourself in a submissive posture, which is lying on your side supporting your head with the arm closest to the ground, exposing your stomach to their approach.
Most of all, bear in mind: you are not Ma-Ti. You do not have Gaia's "Heart" ring. You are not special. You do not have a special connection with the animal that will allow you to behave in a manner that violates its personal space. Let them come to you.

Re: Walking with wolves
@Metacarfre: There are no instances of a wolf ever attacking a human without provocation or the human cornering the wolf (see above post). I have had to fight a bear. Black bears are dicks. They are, in fact, a bowl of dicks.

No, but I do have a thumb. Which lets me hold a gun. I'll get near whatever I want... after it's dead.
My backup plan is to become their king after I topple their hierarchy with the power of my firestick. I'll ride my furry soldiers to war and conquer the world!
Not a hunter

From there it's a slippery slope to "Metacafe". Never surrender.
