Talking about videogames while in a miniskirt is never, EVER a bad thing in any capacity.

Then have I got the pitch for you!

We take 3 hairy, overweight men, stuff them in miniskirts and have them talk about video games in between physical challenges. They'll be mud wrestling, pillow fighting, braiding each others' back hair, doing competitive strip teases and shaving each others' chest hair. All in the name of spicing up those boring old video game reviews!

it'd still be awesome, just a different kind of awesome.

She was on All That when she was younger. That's where I knew her first.

The less creepy thing to do would have been to imdb her, which is what I did.

It seems these videos are going to be completely random top5s in videogames. I doubt this will get any better.

I realised this since the videos are tagged as "Top 5 With Lisa Foiles".
So there will be no purpose, point, meaning or sense to them, it will be some girl naming a top5 of whatever and basing it entirely on personal opinion with very little motivation behind those and probably not that much research done in games other than mainstream games.

I don't know about that last statement. She knows quite a bit about video games. No doubt it will be opinion based, but I wouldn't discredit her yet.

If cracked has shown us anything, it's that top x y lists can be limitless in their entertainment if done right, so it's way too early to draw conclusions.

Or the people around her know about them or do some research and simply tell her what to say. In which case she's just a figurehead on the show fit only for presenting it and being eye-candy.

But since I don't know her personally and haven't heard of her until now, I could very well be wrong and we're looking at an actual gaming chick here.

My God, she had a part in Master of Disguise? That poor, poor girl...

Anyway, back on topic. As far as the "might just be a figurehead/eye candy" thing I've seen her a few times on The Angry Joe Show and apparently she writes/use to write columns for Kotaku. This girl is the real deal, and she definitely knows her stuff.

woah hold the phone. she write for Kotaku? Isn't that like a nerdy internet thing? I need to look into this as it may provide her with the legitimacy that she needs in order to promote this latest series.

So I saw. My opinions of her being a front who simply presents material presented to her has been removed. In fact this new top five thing maybe an underestimation of her talents.

You should read the Internet more. Ever heard of Leigh Alexander? She's the news director at Gamasutra and she's been around longer than Lisa. And she writes REALLY good stuff.

She's been quoted on Extra Credits (before it was Extra Credits) a couple of times. That's where I heard of her.

I don't get out on the internet much. I barely have time to read the normal news. Adding several more articles to may daily intake would only serve to stress me further.

Ahem. They do have a limit, that limit is the rare occasion where we get 4-5 days straight of top x ways this sport/sports star/sports comentator/stupid sport done something. seriously, them weeks almost make me want to stop reading....almost...

I enjoyed it actually. It is was short and sweet and actually decently put together. I do think it has room to improve though.

I'll repeat what I said on the Escapist.

I really didn't enjoy it, it didn't make me smile once and there are hundreds of people doing Top 5s on YouTube anyway.

On top of that, would there be as much love for this series if she was a guy? I'm guessing not.

Lol at all the "Clearly they are just having a hot chick present it to get cheap viewers" and then being surprised to find out she's actually the one behind it responses.

To respond specifically to LogicSword's last sentance, would there be as much hate for this series if she was a guy?

Anyway, I watched it, it was reasonably funny, will watch again until it gets boring.

I'm pretty sure the reason Cracked runs so many top x y lists is that they get consistently higher clickthroughs on that headline style than on non-top-x headlines. They joked about that in an Agents of Cracked episode, but I strongly suspect the joke is based in reality.

The good news is that many online publishers nowadays use traffic data as a core part of their editorial planning. Thus the content adapts quickly to what the audience likes. The bad news is that many online publishers nowadays use traffic data as a core part of their editorial planning. Thus the audience bears a lot of responsibility for the content's quality.

Cracked's readers have, via their clickthroughs, trained Cracked's editors and algorithms to favor the top-x list format.

And if we in the Escapist's audience choose to read/watch/share/digg/retweet content like "Top 10 sexiest video game characters wearing sexy glasses that our sexy commentators would like to have sex with, sexily," we'll end up training the Escapist to favor that type of content. And that's a slippery slope. And at the bottom of that slippery slope is a pool of lava. And there are sharks in the lava.
