I have actually used elastic bands to fix up mics for very similar reasons before. Their use must never be underestimated.

YAY for behind the scenes. Who doesn't like learning how the funny is made, especially for a great video like Bad News. 
It seems the LRR crew are with-holding all the info about making their videos, we need to know EVERYTHING about them, even before they do...
