Re: ClickQuest - Now brainstorming ways to support Desert Bus

Postby Sarah » 21 Oct 2010, 10:11

Question: Can we adjust the slider at any time during Desert Bus? Like if I noticed partway through the week that I was clicking a LOT and wouldn't mind donating a higher percentage of clicks. That would be convenient, but of course you wouldn't be able to adjust the percentage downwards if you'd already lost that amount. So I don't know whether that would be troublesome.

Yes, but if set below what has already been stolen it would not refund your clicks, just make you unable to lose more.

Makes sense. I still reckon negative numbers should be done (I know that they can just make new accounts but it would be funny). Did you solve the whole, stealing stolen clicks thing?

Oh wait, what about paying to put a person's score into negatives for 24 hours. Like, directly - from 84,287 to -84,287. It's temporary and no long term effect, so it shouldn't cost much. But you would buy it for the amusement - imagine 9 people on the chat all at level 0 with negative hundreds of thousands of clicks.

Also the colour stats would be hilarious.

Riffing off that idea, set the account to negative numbers, so clicking 'decreases' the number of clicks you have, ie increases in the negative direction. That would be awesome!

Yeah but if your clicks are registering backwards, as in, going down not up - why would you click? I mean, if you log on and you see that, you'd just chat until the effect stopped. At most you'd gain maybe 1k clicks (from a really inattentive player). I'm assuming that I understood your idea correctly?

It's generally a free feature.

Try turning on your monitor.
"Flat beer or a lumpy mattress. Take your pick."
"I'd prefer a flat mattress."

If things gets delayed, hopefully before November 19th.
If things go REALLY bad, during Desert Bus :P

Would it be possible to buy immunity from click theft? I know I'm a low level, but I would still like to keep my clicks.

Oof, haven't updated this in a while.

tl;dr, Real Life got in the way of this, and now I am dreadfully behind. I am commiting the first 24 hours of Desert Bus to getting the MineCraft server squared away. The 24 hours after that is for ClickQuest. I guarentee something will be out by the 48 hour mark.

Despite the Mario Marathon people jacking my spot :(

Hit 100 on CQ today. Here's the screenshot for those interested.

For FAQs - no the image does not go away. I can click anywhere on the screen. I can't click logout or click on the timeout boxes. If I refresh apparently I have a chance to do so. There is a textbox I can write in at the bottom. The chat is greyed out quite a bit but it's still readable. Also my text shows up as black and white which is totally awesome.

http://code.google.com/p/clickquest/

For all you programmers out there that want to mess around with it. I'll keep track of changes, so if anything good happens to the code, I'll update the live copy ;)

You'll have to give me a google account address to be able to commit though, so be aware of that.

She? Huh.

See, I talked to her in Click Quest a few times, and I had said something about how your forum name sounded like a female name.

Turns out I had you both backwards.

I dearly hope this doesn't happen to you guys in real life. Super awkward.
