bahahaha! so good!

the music at the begining was perfect.

drawing on the board was good.

was pauls "robe" bulldog clipped at the end?

I was hoping that because they all had jackets hanging up behind them, tht they would wear them over their robes.

I believe we're forgetting the One True God: Hail Wharrgarbl!

...and that stinger is a fresh log on the Matt/James slash bonfire. Its nice to see Bill and Morgan on a LRR credits again.

Actually, Wisconsin doesn't have an officially recognized State Mythological Creature. But as a life-long resident of Wisconsin, I'd have to agree with Jim that if we did, the Hodag would be a much more likely candidate than the Wendigo.

The fact that you had both Bill and Morgan around makes me wonder if there's a new cH in the pipeline...

I thoroughly enjoyed the acting. I'm a northerner (U.S.) so I can't accurately evaluate Graham's southern accent, but for a Canadian doing a stereotype, it was amusing. I think his hat might have been on backwards, but there wasn't enough light to be sure.
So many jokes and references. I laughed out loud a couple times, but I felt many things whooshing over my head.
The stinger made me involuntarily go "aw". I also went "Yay!" when I saw Morgan was in a video. I liked how subtly his departure from the cult was handled.

@Jim and Henrietta: What if there is a classification difference between "mythical creature" (Wendigo) and "folkloric animal" (Hodag)?

Edit: Also, Matt was totally reading the script for that line, wasn't he?

I like to think of "Frank" as a complete fraud anyway, so him not actually being from Texas totally works for me. Also, the "goats" line is far funnier when the accent drops.

By the way, Matt rocks this video. Hard. His delivery of "Fascinating!" may enter my personal lexicon.

Yes. I don't even need to ask what line you're talking about, because I already know. I wasn't memorizing that on such short notice.

"mythical creature" = "monster that only exists in stories"
"folkloric animal" = "monster that only exists in stories"

The script reading seemed to be worked into the characters and scene fairly well. They weren't staring off camera somewhere distracting, and most importantly the flow of the humor didn't feel broken. Even if it did become somewhat noticeable on that line Matt had to deliver, I thought of it like the technical jargon in a sci-fi, medical, or crime drama. I always feel sympathy for the actors rattling off those things with such apparent ease.

The premise, of course, is that the paper we're looking at is a Deity list.

Was this filmed in the same room as The Writers Room?. It looks similar (could be in the same building, I suppose.) I find it amusing that we see the return of this set, with a religion themed sketch, and where Morgan barely contributes, being only a side character.

Aw, man... this episode blew my mind. Certainly one of your best of recent weeks. A nice turn from Matt in particular. I agree about the 'mystique' line. His delivery is just perfect.

There has been a lot of talk about elder gods in the podcast lately. I perhaps should have seen this coming. Like the subtle Heaven's Gate reference as well. Cults. Such a rich vein of comedy gold.

I reckon the delivery of "that line" makes more sense in context of reading from a document, seems a lot more realistic than memorising it.

As a Texas native, I have to say Graham's accent was way better then I hear from most people north of Virginia. It wasn't sickeningly overdone or anything even if it faltered occasionally.

Woah! Points to Graham for researching the Wendigo in Wisconsin. I was actually just joking! Tho' Henrietta is right, if we did have an actual, official mythological creature it most likely would be the Hodag.

We actually had a pretty severe Wendigo issue in Canada a couple of years ago where a bus passenger attacked, decapitated, and began eating another man mid bus ride. I don't know which issue inspired that mention.

We had a similar issue in England. Except there was no decapitation.

Or attack.

Or cannibalism.

Or bus, for that matter.

I think it's a positive thing that my only complaint with this video is thus:

Even shoddy, fake "Western" salesmen have hats that actually fit. Watching Graham in that four-sizes-too-small cowboy hat made my head hurt.
