I am weak. Self-doubt is the core of my personality.
And not one person I know IRL would believe it.
I can't not care about people, and it drives me to hate them.

That's funny, because Attacked with Unecessary Apostrophes is the name of my pre-dropping the apostrophe B-52's cover band is the name of my pre-dropping the apostrophe B-52's cover band.

Confession: sometimes I think that I'm too young for these forums. And that everyone else thinks of me as a little kid online.

You'd be around the same age I was when I first joined, and you've certainly become a regular faster than I did. Regardless of age, you've definitely earned your place here.

You're probably only as young as most of us like to act at times anyway.

I really want to release my inner punk-goth-rock-chick, and realise the adolescance I never had, but I haven't the foggiest where to start, and I'm very aware that you're not supposed to defy public expectation after your 17th birthday.

You're not?! Shit. Man, every time I come into class dressed goth one day and dressed in plain clothes the next, I must be causing a ruckus.
Re: The Confession Topic: Get It Off Your Chest!
Start off by listening to HIM or My Chemical Romance.
Re: The Confession Topic: Get It Off Your Chest!
Also, if it makes you feel any better, I feel like a little kid around here when I see all of these members with much more well established profiles. (read: high post counts).

I did the whole HIM, MCR, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Turbonegro, Lordi... etc. Still do. But I am far too self-conscious to wear the clothes, and this irritates/kinda upsets me. I'm not used to being feminine, damn it. That was how I rebelled against my peers, by androgyny. And it backfired horribly. Now I want to be all pretty and gothic and I can't because I feel like a poser.

I am exactly the same!
I also recently got to know from some friends of mine that apparently that's 'my style'. 83

Go out there and be beautiful!
If you want to be a goth, then go for it. It may be a change in style and your friends might wonder why, but they still accept and understand that it is something you want to be, but haven't found the courage to take the leap and go for until now. I LOVE the gothic style, I seriously do, it is beautiful and I love seeing people who are into that style, because, to me, it's like watching art walking down the street for me to look at in everyday life.
So I repeat: Go for it! Because you are beautiful, and you are feminine and the world is just waiting for you to express it. ~<3

Maybe try starting with one thing, and building up?
Wearing eyeliner everyday, dyeing your hair, wearing boots?
Black nails are probably the smallest thing.

Fuck everyone else (metaphorically, while literally doing so is a common form of rebellion, it never ends well), and go do what you want. You're still in university, and in an arts program, you can do whatever you want.

Fuck yeah. I love you guys. Tomorrow, I'm going to go buy some eyeliner. And some boots. And book myself in for a haircut. I have birthday money to spend. ^^

Woo! I couldn't get myself to do it for the longest time, but it's really fun some days to just walk down the street with loud music blasting in your ears and very blatantly unusual clothes and *know* that everyone is looking at you, and you don't care.

Re: The Confession Topic: Get It Off Your Chest!
You know what I wish? I wish I could release the creative force I know is inside me. I have ideas and plans for novels and stories, films and plays. I have this whole different artistic person inside me and I can not express it, no matter how hard I try. It's really frustrating. I start writing, get a dozen or so pages in and just stop for no reason I can fathom.
I wish I could just let it all out because I know what would result could be awesome.

Often outnumbered, never outpunned.
Note: in Ireland 'ye' is used as the plural of 'you'. It rather neatly avoids confusion online.

Re: The Confession Topic: Get It Off Your Chest!
I rather suspect that my opinion of goths and the gothic style has been rather negatively affected by the incredibly dull, boring, annoying idiots I knew in high school who wore that style.
I want to wear medieval styled clothes - doublets, long cloaks, really huge thick belts, tall riding boots, all with a modern styled twist - when I'm just out and about in everyday life, but I'm not brave enough. I don't like standing out and drawing attention to myself.

I think I'm the same, I don't really care what people think of me but I don't want to provoke strange opinion.
