Current Musical Obsession!
I couldn't find a thread like this, so I thought I'd make one!
I'm the type of person that I can stumble over a new song and get obsessed with it. I can be obsessed with one or a few different songs at the same time, but I wondered if I'm the only one who gets like that ... and if I'm not, what are everyones current musical obsessions? If you have any at the moment, in which case, do you remember which the last song/songs/band/genre was?
I thought that this could be a fun way to spread some music and songs that we like, new and old! x3

Mimm dear, I think you need to get a hold of yourself, or I'm leaving today, because this is hurting my brain.

Oh dear. The OP asked for music, not savage butchering of classics or shrilly annoying voices. Plus, if you're going to choose music from a cartoon, it has to be either Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, or, one I'm currently quite obsessed with, Darkwing Duck
Theme tunes from 80s/90s american cartoons were the best.

I havent been obsessed with any particular songs in a long time now. I listen to so much album and prog rock that a single song seems really short to me. I just listened to Bohemian Rhapsody a few minutes ago, and as FUCKING AWESOME as it is, it just flies right by.

If you'd prefer: De-shrillified
Though I'd agree, the theme tune for MLP:FIM (yes, it is that verbose) seriously sucks, but their in-show musical pieces are blissfully rare and rather well-done.

I'ma hunt you down now...
But anyway, did anyone pay attention to last year's Sufjan Stevens album? His other stuff made such a dent in the indie scene, but The Age of Adz just seemed to pass by, even though it's his first proper album in ages. I personally think it's amazing. 25 minute auto-tuning epics ftw.

Like Cuppa, I'm Proud of the BBC. But remember We Didn't Start the Fire. Mainly, because It's the End of the World As We Know It.
Yeah, the Mitch Benn one got me in the mood to listen to the other two, and now I can't stop.

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da; particularly this cover.
It doesn't help that the original is on regular rotation on the Muzak at work, too...
...up until I'd seen that wonderful video, I'd hade Riverside by Sidney Sampson playing on loop while I'd be gaming - often better than the games' soundtracks.

My A Cappella group covered this multiple times, and I provided percussion most of the time, so I can attest to this song being kickass.

I'm currently playing Nine Black Alps, followed by the New Pornographers, followed by Pineapple Thief. Between 11 albums and more hours than i can be bothered to count, it keep me amused for a fair amount of time.
Every couple of months i return to Song For Swinging Lovers by the Indelicates a listen to it nonstop for a week or two.

Re: Current Musical Obsession!
I can get VERY obsessed with music from time to time and have been known to play the same song more than 20 times in a row (to my roommates' great pleasure I'm sure).
Right now I am obsessed with two playlists:
- Owl City / Sky Sailing
- Kaiba Sountrack / Portrait of Petit Cossette Soundtrack
->(for whatever reason these two go really well together)

I'm glad to see some music I actually recognize.
As for my own musical obsession, I already made a thread about it awhile back. I'm still lovin' Younnat.

Oh yes, that's a good one. Also, check out Mario and Zelda Big Band Live. I don't have it but the bits I've heard on internet radio were magnificent.

Yeah, really!
When I was younger my sister found faith in christianity and since it mainly was her music that was stored on the family comp I listened to some of it. In The Light by DC Talk is one of those songs that I remember. It's a great song by a great band. =]
One of my all time favourite songs is Above All by Micheal W. Smith, it makes me cry everytime I hear it ... *goes to listen to it right this instant*
