AskLRR - Closes May 14th

Postby James » 13 May 2011, 20:25

Damnit!!! I set a reminder on my phone so I would post this thread on Tuesday but it never went off, I've re-added the alert and next time this will actually go up on time.

Ask away.

What do you guys use to capture game footage for unskippable? Also if you could have any creature from MTG as a pet/minion what would it be?

Will we see Ryan Quickbender and other ENN characters in CheckPoint? Why do I keep thinking CheckPoint is Counterpoint?

For once I catch the thread while it's still up!

-In several episodes of The Whatever Thing, Morgan and Graham use the phrase "a boot to the coot." What exactly does this mean?
-Did the old TV still work after you dropped a cinder block on it?
-How do you punish James for forgetting to put the AskLRR thread up in time?
-Was the YouTube channel WhateverLRR created by you guys, or is it just someone else ripping the videos and uploading them?
-Would each crew member please demonstrate their best evil laugh?
-Are any of you Nerdfighters?
-How long are Crapshots going to be on hiatus?

Following a discussion in the General Discussion forum about beds, describe your bed and how easy it is for two to fit into it.

I had another question, but i forgot it... anyone remember what it was?

So you guys now have 4 shows picked up by major websites, your own panel at a number of conventions, and have raised nearly half a million dollars for sick children. What is the next major goal for LRR? Long form web series? Television syndication? Divine ascension?

Also, I'm noticing by the Bronies thread that at very least Matt would consider himself a Brony. Are the rest of you fans as well? If so, who are your favorite ponies? If not... <no data>

Much love.

Any members of the crew have a Top Gear mag subscription? They're stupid expensive to ship overseas, but oh so worth it.

What is your favourite combo play in Magic: The Gathering? Such as Quillspike and Devoted Druid, or two Carnifex Demons, etc.

Additionally, are there any combo plays that you really dislike playing against?

(Cash Cats)
How premeditated was the crew's half of the dialogue in the scene with Glen the landlord?
What results would running a comparative spectrogram on Paul and Glen throw up?

(Ways to Clean Your House)
Ignoring the obvious technical challenge, would a working Katamari have had the same comedic effect?
Is Annika secretly Garfield? (he seems so stone about being used as a broom)

(Daily Drop: Shaving Gel) Are you at all perturbed about the implications of having close up slow motion footage of white goo flying through the air?
(Daily Drop: Playstation) Aren't first gen PS1's meant to be fragile?
--
(Because it didn't get answered last time) Out of the crew, who does the best 'big no'?
--
While answering a question regarding the Dreamcast in the First Wonder LRRcast, the discussion momentarily turned towards XBLA and PSN (I believe Paul initiated that particular thrust). With the benefit of hindsight, does that discussion feel as uncomfortable to you as it does to me?

Why the hell don't my CD's fit on my CD rack?

How is Aristotle the Kitten doing?

Now that you're part of PA TV, is it weird being in forums where people are unfamiliar with your work and you're the new guys in comparison to your status as kings of LRR. Was it similar when you moved to the Escapist?

(Back It Up) What game are Paul and James playing? The box vaguely resembles Carcassonne but I know that's not it.
(Daily Drop: Television) What were your experiences of this drop?
(Daily Drop: Ted the Cat) What were your experiences of this drop?

How often do you backup your computers?
--
Assuming she's a fan of the genre (not, hopefully, too bold an assumption given the Skinny Puppy reference in Bright Ideas), does Kathleen prefer older industrial (Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Whitehouse etc) or newer stuff (metal crossovers like NIN and Godflesh, EBM etc)?
--
Do you believe that with the march of technology, white goods, particularly consumer electronics, have traded durability for replaceability?
--
Bowie knives or swiss knives? Do any of the crew have swiss cards?

What do you think of the idea of a MTG worldwide campaign?

You pick a faction to side with and register online, you then play against people from other factions and say online whether you won or lost, which gains a point for your faction. At the end of the campaign the faction with highest percent victories wins and the background get updated as they ne an future release get affected. e.g. if they did this with Phyrexia vs Mirrodin the winning faction could have had the last set of the block (New Phyrexia or Mirrodin Pure)

p.s. Games workshop used to do these, but stopped when people complained they didnt follow through with the results.

Three nonsensical questions
If a wargarbel and a whambulance collided what sound would it make,

Is there, or has there ever been, a LoadingReadyRun Stalker?, If there isn't, can I apply for the position?

Also, given the fuss made over a dead fish, were you worried about dropping Ted the cat?
Do you guys mind. I'm trying to write an essay

Its probably not a good thing I feel the need to put a disclaimer after everything I say

This is a thing my and my friend run.

Did Kathleen (or anyone for that matter) have any objections during the drop of Ted the Cat? And assuming that the cat's name is actually Ted, and therefore is not Annika or Khaavren, where did you get it? Did you go out and buy a brand-new cat just to drop?

A question for Paul regarding CheckPoint: My PS3 is red and blue, shoots string from its hands, and sticks to walls. Am I safe?
I fight for TRUTH! JUSTICE! And DONUTS!

...not really the first two.

For each person present, what is your favorite element on the periodic table?

And if you have time, how do you feel CheckPoint has been received so far?

1) For the drop of Ted the Cat, was the crowbar fake-out always planned when doing it or was it just something Alex thought of when editing?

2) While not suggesting that anyone has marmite based porn on their hard drives, if the Devil appeared and offered you the same deal in Back it Up, would you take it? If not, what would the Devil have to offer in order to give him your soul? Also, as a side note, assuming he exists, what are the chances that the Devil actually looks like Dale?

3) Which would you prefer, doing a video that took a short amount of time but was rather un-noteworthy or doing a video that took a long amount of time but was very rememorable?

4) If you worked for a game company and you had to do a remake of a game, would you rather remake a good game so a new generation can experience or remake a bad but promising game so you can go back and fix the issues? As an extra, which game would be remade?

Is there any reason you chose Ted and not Annika as the cat to be dropped in DD?

What are Kathleen's thoughts on the announced Persona 4 TV adaptation?

Is you guys putting your new series on yet another other site tacitly saying that you think your own website is crap?

Got a good number of questions, forgive me for the length of them:

There's a good chance I may be moving to Portland, Oregon in June/July. If this is the case, that would put me closer to Canada more than ever and more importantly, close enough that I could maybe 'visit' Victoria. If that did happen, would be possible to meet up with you guys to hang out for a few hours some afternoon or at least grab a drink or two someday? And most importantly, what hotels around that area would you guys recommend staying at?

(Checkpoint Question): Based on what I gathered from how you were talking, it seems this will be the dry delivery with a sense of sarcasm and snark in terms of the overall tone of humor. Is it correct to say you've blended the two styles you used in ENN?

Any rough time table on when we can expect the Escapist ENN filler to start? And is it safe to bet its a roundtable show like ENNN?

Gaming Related Questions For the Crew:
Mass Effect 3 Delayed till 2012, various news sources point to it being for trimming of 'unnecessary' RPG elements. I get that the game was ALWAYS a shooter, but I think this news only provides feelings of animosity from people who either liked it for the roleplaying and various stat building or enjoyed the hybrid of the two genres. What do ya'll think?

Any of the crew picked up outland? And if they did, any chance they need a partner for the co-op challenges?

Is there anyone else who just has gotten burned out on Assassin's Creed now that it's become a yearly franchise? I mean, the game isn't BAD but I feel that Ubisoft is a wee bit too obsessed with cash ATM and is milking that franchise for everything they can.

Modern Warfare 3's been announced and is rumored to be coming out on the same day as Battlefield 3. For the shooter fans in the crew, which one will you likely pick up instead of the other?

Another 'mystical' question akin to last podcasts question about magic cards, if you could take a one way trip to any 'game' world of your choice,(aka go there and you wouldn't be allowed to come back) what would it be? This includes TCG's, tabletops, Pen and Paper and video games in general.

I don't think this has been asked but have any of the crew picked up Pokemon Black/White yet? If so, enjoying it more than past generations?

And last but not least, since Achievements have been added into Minecraft, is Matt finally going to buy it now? And secondly, any ideas for what would make for some 'good' achievements?
