Is Anyone else getting tired of zero punctuation?

Postby itsbageltime » 01 Jun 2011, 08:34

I find lately when i watch zero punctuation I get bored and don't even finish it. I find that its just the same complaint over and over again and is started to seemed forced.
Also that the jimquistion is just completely retarded and i can't even stand more than 30 seconds of it.
so what do you guys think?

There's a big topic complaining about Jimquisition.

But ZP I still like. He's smart about his hate.

I still find ZP useful when deciding whether I should play a game or not.

His issues with the ones I've played are pretty accurate.

Maybe some of them aren't as god-awful as he makes them out to be, but I can usually go "Yeah, he was right about that one thing," even if said thing doesn't ruin my gaming experience.

Though I still don't agree with his review of Portal 2.

Tired of it? Yes. I stopped watching a while ago. Though I will still occasionally watch the odd episode, in general I'm tired of his style.

I still like ZP too, but at one point I sort of felt similarly to how you do now. I just stopped watching, but eventually went back to it.

You could argue that mainstream games are in such a state of blandness that they all copy each others problems as well as their mechanics, etc., so that's why he has to make the same complaints over and over.
What are you looking at.

Personally, I can't seem to tire of the show. I even disagree with him frequently, but that doesn't stop me from laughing my ass off.

Escapist are getting a little sloppy with their video updates, ZP didn't go up today until around 8pm GMT. Unskippable was up late on Monday and today's Feed Dump isn't on there yet.

Also, not bored of ZP myself.

Nope, I still like and watch it every week when it comes out. The quality varies, but it's not like I hand over money for it, and even episodes that are not as funny as others still amuse me.

Then again I can listen to the same 25 audiobooks over and over and over again, so there.

I watch them every week. Sometimes they're not that good, other times they're hilarious.

They keep me going while waiting for Charlie Brooker to do more stuff, at least.

I enjoy them. A ZP review does tend to overtly function on the negatives. But that is his style, very dry and harsh criticism. I've been watching them since near it's conception, and I'm still enjoying them. I don't enjoy them as much as, say, anything loadingreadyrun puts out, but they still entertain me for the 4 or so minutes that they go on for.

Same complaint because of a stale industry.

Also Jimquisition is win.

I really like the show, but last week's Brink thing really annoyed me with his 'Take A Shot' joke (which then carried into yesterday's EP column). At first it was a funny off-hand comment about taking a shot every time he mentioned TF, but it got really annoying really quickly when he started repeating it.
In general, though, I enjoy it muchly

eh, he's still fine by me. I get a few snickers and stay up to date on games I can't afford. Plus, I respect his opinions on the industry as a whole.

Not bored of ZP by a longshot. In fact, I've been binging my way through the archive the last couple weeks. Yeah, some episodes are better than others but they're throughout the run, as opposed to some series whose good episodes are all in the first season before turning to suck.

One thing I've noticed, I don't dislike everything he reviews negatively - I love Mirror's Edge, for example - but so far I have enjoyed everything I've tried that he's reviewed positively.

I'm a bit tired of him, yeah. Improves if I've played the game in question. But otherwise, I'm with Metcafre. The joke is played out. It's time for him to move on to a new project.

I enjoy ZP a lot still. Yahtzee's opinion has changed my decision one way or the other as to whether I should buy a gameor not, but I generally watch it more for the amusement factor than for a review. I do find that even when he slams a game I like I can usually understand his reasoning for not liking it.

Besides, it was for me (and I'm sure many others) the thing that introduced to the Escapist, which in turn led me to LRR. And Yahtzee gets credit for having made the only club I will willingly go into sober, even if it is expensive.

Comedy reviews are risky territory, because whatever you're reviewing is what gives you material to work with. Because of this, it really depends on the season so to speak on how much I enjoy Zero Punctuation. He's had a lot of good steam lately, but the last four episodes have been somewhat of a bore for me. I personally believe that's because we're between releases or news with good enough material to stamp on. His shtick is fine. In fact, I'm sort of surprised he's able to keep it all so fresh when he reviews about 50 games in a year. It's not something I'd do weekly, that's for certain.

I do like his older stuff better though.

I still enjoy it, although ZP sunk below Extra Credits and everything LRR does in the list of things i like at the Escapist. It is now bottom of that pile, but at least it's nowhere near everything else the Escapist produces!

I find Extra Punctuation to be very hit and miss. He doesn't really say anything that Extra Credits don't say at least three times as well. His style of comedy doesn't translate as well over to text and frankly they're really not all that well written. Sometimes what he says is interesting, but most of the time i don't care for it
