Re: Yakuza - Day 1
Why... why are we talking about killing people? I thought I had to worry about gangs, but you people are scary! Shouldn't we stick together? Nothing's even happened yet!

I am a single retired teacher of arithmetic. Hardly your typical gang member.
If anything, I'm more likely to be a victim.

Re: Yakuza - Day 1
So just to keep all the names straight:
1. Master Gunner - Near
2. Dutch Guy - Takou Shibuimaru
3. Aeric90 - Aiber
4. MowDownJoe - Soichiro Yagami
5. GCNinja - Hideki Ide
6. Phenonemis - Touda Matsuda
7. Elvor - unknown
8. Trymantha - unknown
9. Thermin - Watari
10. Tapir12 - Yuri
11. Fayili- Chihiro Ogawa
12. NecroVale - Hirokazu Ukita
13. IAmAFish - unknown
14. Robert Merlow - Masaru Kenshin.
15. Kodra - Suchi Aizawa
As Trymantha pointed out, the characters seem to be from Death Note, except for two - Chihiro Ogawa (Fayili) and Masaru Kenshin (Robert Merlow) - which suggests these names are aliases. Do you two have something to hide?

What? I hardly have control over my own name. I'm far more suspicious of those who haven't given a name at all!

Re: Yakuza - Day 1
She's the main character from Gokusen.
Wikipedia wrote:The plot involves Kumiko Yamaguchi, the granddaughter of a Yakuza boss, Kuroda of the Kuroda Ikka. Her parents died when she was younger, and her grandfather has no other descendants, so Kumiko is next in line to head the family business with the title of Ojou. However, her lifelong dream has been to become a teacher. While her grandfather approves of her choice, others in the family want her to become the next boss.
Kumiko (known by her students as "Yankumi") becomes a teacher at an all-boys private high school. Her class is full of delinquents, but she tries her hardest to teach them not just about academics (her subject is Mathematics), but about lessons of life, much like any "dedicated teacher" story. Though she's forced to keep her family a secret from the public, her Yakuza upbringing gives her the strength and the experience to reach out to her students, while also providing comedic relief.

I've yet to see a decent reason why everyone is telling everyone else their names.

We have been given a name. Why should we not use it? As far as I can tell they have just been randomly taken. I don't think they are linked to alliance in any way shape or form

Re: Yakuza - Day 1
Okay, people... I'm just going to run through some basic math here. We don't know how many Yakuza we're dealing with here, but I'm going to assume 3, since that'd be 1/5th of the people who signed up, and having a 4:1 ratio of townies to mafia is usually a good balance for a Mafia game (at least, IMO).
Now, let's say worst case scenario here: we do lynch someone day 1 and guess wrong. And then proceed to do that every day after. Mafia wins by the end of day 5. Simple enough. Now, if we abstain and let the Yakuza get first blood, then they win by night 5. Difference? Just that we have less control over our loss. At least during the lynching phase, we can maybe try to steer the noose over to a possible Yakuza.
I was really tempted to abstain, but having just written that out, I want to vote for someone. However, I don't know who yet... Do I go for one of the guys whose name doesn't line up with the theme? Do I go with Kodra, for being a little too trigger happy and trying to get the lynch wagon started before anyone has had time to think about it? I don't know. Give me some time to think about it.

Not that I agree with already trying to get a kill right off the bat, but it IS kinda the only thing we CAN do. We need to lynch someone at some point.

Re: Yakuza - Day 1
I don't like this. It's scary. But I guess if I have to vote or be branded as a suspicious individual, just because I was given a name that doesn't fit your theories, I will.
Yesterday, at lunch, I was walking by the gym and I saw Watari skulking off to the side, by the dumpsters. He was talking into his cell phone and saying, "Yes, boss. I'm sure. We're shaping the new generation here. I'm sure that they'll all be ready to serve by the time the takeover happens." I dunno about you, but I'd call that suspicious.

Re: Yakuza - Day 1
First you're suspicious of those who aren't giving names and then suddenly make up a story about Watari and vote for him despite the fact that he has given his? Only Suchi has suspected him so far.
I don't feel ready to vote for someone yet until I hear a few more opinions, and I'm still suspicious of Suchi for the quick vote, but Chihiro has moved to the top of my suspicions. Likely they're working together.
FOS: Fayili / Chihiro, Kodra / Suchi

Now see here! I did hear you! I know I did! You can't convince me that I imagined it! And if you're going to try to make it out like I'm the bad person so that you can get away and keep doing terrible things, shame! Shame on you! I don't even LIKE boys!

It's just sad, more than anything, that a nice girl like you would even do something like that.

Y'know, if I may echo that sentiment...
Anyway, giving that the GM has let us know that the off-brand names were a mistake on his end, I guess I can drop those two (for now... I'll let their actions speak for them). But there's still the matter of me saying I was going to do some kind of vote. So... I guess I shall...

Wow, that's not finger-pointy at all.
(Side note, Try, can we stay in character and not discuss game mechanics in the thread?)
