I’m new and have been trying to log in to your server but keep getting “Disconnected by server outdated server” is the server running an older version of the game? Or is there something wrong with my connection? I’m running at version 1.7.3

The server hasn't being updated to 1.7 yet, since the server wrapper and all the plugins we use haven't being updated to a stable build yet. We're testing the latest one though, so hopefully we can update the server soon. In the meantime, if you wish to get on, there are various guides about on how to downgrade to a previous version of minecraft.

Arcology News: LRRNAP now officially has a new door system!
Image
Instead of the clumsy wooden doors, there is now a 3-block deep piston system that restores the portion of the exterior shell that was removed for the entryway whenever the arcology is to be closed for whatever reason.
Image
It is controlled by a T flip-flop beneath the walkway that is in turn triggered by an AND gate between the two devices on either side. The torches on the devices light up whenever they are unavailable for triggering, which is typically about a minute after each activation, and are specifically designed to obfuscate what the trigger mechanism is (I'll be giving the solution to admins only). The T flip-flop is piston-based and so stores its contained value between server boots.

In short, to toggle the door status you need to trigger both devices within a minute of eachother, and the door will stay open/closed between boots or toggles.

I had originally intended to have /home suites for people, back when we had the teleport runes installed.

Having finally hollowed out the structure, I think it looks much better without the sort of visual clutter involved in having all those suites. Maybe that'll be my next mega-project. Might build that on the Survival server, where it'd be more useful.

I’m new here and I would like to know if there is any special rules to your server? And any info on how you play?
I would also like to know how to get wood seeing as all the trees won’t let me cut them?
My in-game name is SirXaphod.

Pretty much the only rule of consequence is "Don't be a dick". You can't cut trees right now because you don't have build permissions, just a safeguard against griefers. However Ken posted that he added you earlier today, so you should be good now.

Notch has revealed a new mob on his blog. It is a very creepy concept of a creature. It scares me.

Ah yes, the Endermen. Sure to be worth a spook or two, especially for their aggro behaviour.

That image freaks me the hell out.

The other minecraft mobs usually scare people because they pop up in random places. They employ the "boo!" version of scary, but are otherwise pretty comical. Skellingtons, zombies, even creepers are relatively nonthreatening in their appearance.

These things ... oh god. The stuff of nightmares. Aggro'd by looking at them? Argh. Teleportation as a method of transportation? Argh. Ability to pick up and move blocks? Argh! Argh! How do you hide from things that can move blocks!?

Even with the addition of NPCs, if you're playing single-player, they're just AI. You're ultimately alone.

Alone, with these things.

So very alone.

Though, any radius over ~5 crashes the server...

Hopped onto the creative and put some finishing touches to the Van Humbeck Academy. I feel like it needs to be...largelier, but the original architect isn't around for me to pick their brain. It has a nice roof, doors, signage, and a mascot now at least.

Speaking of creative, any idea when the server will be graced by the presence of your large balls?

Once the lower exclusion of biome 3 is done, I just have to finish the flooring in biome 1 and the lighting in biome 2, then there's some furnishings and it'll be finished. Since I started making the shells in MCEdit rather than in-game it's gone a lot faster.
