Re: Story behind your name.
Created the username "Fugiman" for Neopets when I was...9 or so. Fugi was a misspelling of Fuji, surprisingly not the mountain but the pokemon card "Mr. Fuji". I don't remember why I replaced the j with a g, probably my stupid 9 year old brain couldn't tell the difference.
However, Fugiman was taken but the kind system offered "Fugiman47" as an alternative. When I went to runescape, Fugiman47 was taken so I duplicated the 7 to get Fugiman477, which I use to this day.
However, I absolutely despise the name and really want to change it, but I can't think of a better name, and "re-branding" myself after nearly a decade of using one handle probably wouldn't go too smoothly.

My first forum was a My Little Pony collectors forum.
Sunspot was my favorite Pony growing up.

I like the name and have used it in a few other places since so it stuck.
Yes I was into ponies before they were cool

You do realize that the rest of us weren't for that exact reason, though, don't you?

Re: Story behind your name.
Going into the way back when machine, I used to use an old chat program that would have a different room for each site you'd visit. This was called "Gooey".
For shits and giggles the website i stuck to while using it was neopets. I have an account but can no longer access it because i lied about my age to get past the age restrictions and have no idea what i put in as my birth date lol.
So I used to role play with the people that frequented this room and I would come up with different names and such things because hey, who doesn't like to pretend being someone else every now and then. So one day I decided I needed a new name, but what? I decided I would merge Kintaro from MK II with the word origami. Thus creating KinoGami. I've actually stuck with this handle since, but others I have been known as before include Coelot, Mimicker, Gyroshi, and Tyroshi.

Re: Story behind your name.
When I joined my first forum in 2006 I struggled to thing of a name and decided to take inspiration from the album I was listening to at the time, Turin Brakes' 'Ether Song'. At the time I adapted it to Ether Boy, but I got a bit fed up with the Boy aspect (there's still a long running joke with my uni friends of me being younger than I am). I've been using James Ether as a new adaptation since the end of 2007 I think. I almost always respond to Ether in actual conversation now too.
I'm sure you're all riveted by this story.

Re: Story behind your name.
My first name is Nicholas. I used to go by my name on the internet all the time, but then one day I realised that all the sweary, violent comics, and nasty things I said about fictional people would get mashed up with all the real world academic balls I actually have to do for a living.
So I fragmented myself into an online/comic book persona.
My email address was for a long time [email protected], so I though, hey, Nick Gonzo.
Pa-zow.

Might as well post it again.

I'm stuck here on a lone island. I think the natives call it "The Nintendo NSider Forums". Anyways, all of the people around here are using crazy pseudonyms with weird spellings and numbers. NUMBERS. However, to fit in here, I feel I must do the same. My friends back home say I'm quite obsessed with video games. Hm, maybe "VideoGameFreak"? No, that's much too long and generic. AH! How about "VGFreek"? Yes, while it's still generic, the misspelling of "freak" is quite unique, and "VG" could technically mean anything. Vince Gill. Vegetable Garden. Vagi-No, nevermind. Hm, as far as numbers go, I do have a liking for 34 and 36. Eh, let's combine them.
Hm, "VGFreek346". I like it. Let's hope I fit in.

Ah, my first non-Nintendo console: The Xbox360. You are so sleek and new. Well, to me at least. I can finally join that club I always wanted to join. "Xbox Live" was it? Anyways, they seem to have strange monikers, just like those people on that island way back when. These people seem much older, and "VGFreek346" seems quite juvenile. I still have a special place in my heart for it, though. Maybe I can rework it. Hm...
Ok,expanded it is "VideoGameFreek346". Maybe...
VideoGameFreek
Yes! I like it! Vigafre! It's quite sleek, and it doesn't sound very juvenile. While I do like the numbers, adding them to an already made up word/name seems unnecessary. It does sound like a Dungeon and Dragons name, though. Ah well.

And I've stuck with it ever since.*

Character from a series of books I have written that will never be published and I keep writing and adding to.
The most unique, nicest, and confusing individual you will get to know. Don't be stupid around me, that's my job.

Re: Story behind your name.
My name is my XBL Gamertag which I made years ago for the first Xbox.
Genghis for Genghis Khan, as I did a report on him in middle school and used Genghis in my email at that time. Ares for Ares the Greek God of War, not because of the video game, but in reference to the god and I thought his name sounded cool. I wanted something for my gamertag that didn't have numbers, leetspeak or random letters, and Genghis Ares sounded good.

Re: Story behind your name.
Back when I was in high school, I started moonlighting in the college theater lighting department. I was one of, oh, I think maybe two girls there... so, I ended up being one of the wenches with wrenches. Shortly afterwards, I started havening/mudding and needed a name. I've hung on to it since then, and fiercely attempt to get it first on assorted internet sites since I'm terrible at thinking up names to use. If I can't get wench or leilah, I'm pretty much stuck. =)

From an earlier version of this thread:
Lord Chrusher wrote:Chrusher is my nickname. It is a contraction of my first and last name (CHRis + USHER) and a reference to what a large clumsy oaf I am. I felt like being grand so I tacked a 'Lord' on front.

My name's Dan and I like Jin Kazama. I can't remember how old I was when I came up with it, I remember that the first time I used it was on Halo2, then RuneScape, then XBL
I'm not a fan of it, but I can't think of what to change it to.

Re: Story behind your name.
I dunno. I took a title and an action and stuck them together.
It could have been anything;
Private Stubtoe
Professor Headbang
Baron Fistpunch
Marquis d'Jumpshot.
THE LIST IS ENDLESS!
Also, I was listening to the Dropkick Murphy's version of Wild Rover when I originally posted..
