Loved it :D

Although I've lost faith in Sqeenix to put out a good FF game since 12 and I still haven't quite forgiven them for X. Then again I liked 8 so by definition my opinion counts for nothing :P

*looks at signature*

Yes that's my FF XIV character stats...

I like it anyway - what can I say? I have bad taste?

*edit* - and now the signature is coming up with blank stats because the servers are down for maintenance *smacks forehead*

The icon from the front page to the newest Checkpoint episode links to the homepage of LRR instead of PATV. Just a heads up.

We got chewed OUT by a FFXIV fan on the PATV forums. The thing is, he's not actually disagreeing with us. I'm not sure how to respond.

I saw that! I thought it was hilarious, personally.

Now, see, while I've not /actually/ played Final Fantasy XIV (yet, working on that) I don't believe it's necessarily a /bad/ game but I do agree that it's obviously damaged the brand as a whole. In general I think it comes down to personal taste - I mean, I played Final Fantasy XI and just could /not/ get along with it. Not because it was a bad game but there were just elements of it that didn't agree with me. Could be a similar situation with XIV.

Also, I don't believe the whole partying up issue is strictly an XIV thing but then again I still remember having to spend forever just looking for a healer back in the early days of Guild Wars and even now in the likes of Aion you still get groups spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to recruit specific professions just for /one/ mission or whatever.

But that's just my two cents. Also, the person who chewed you guys out is slightly moronic. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

I haven't played it so I can't speak to whether or not I find it good or bad, but I do have to ask the question: if it's really not as bad as you guys made it out to be, why is Sqeenix rebuilding it from the ground up?

There seems to be a double post in the Videos section link for this episode with different taglines.

Also, angry Kathleen is olev.

They're not, from the ground up would imply rebuilding things such as the engine which they are happy with, even if it is ridiculously resource intensive.

What they're doing is patching and updating, they're keeping the parts that worked and scrapping the parts that don't, granted they should have done this when the game was in Beta, if not in playtesting, but there is progress. The game actually had a lot of innovation, but it's been hard to see that past all the problems, the class system in particular is fantastic but the player trading is still terrible after several revisions.

I'll defend the game as someone who plays it, and enjoys it, but I will not pretend it doesn't have issues - the way I see it personally is I payed ~£3.50 for my copy through Amazon, that to me is an acceptable cost to play what is essentially an open beta.

Just re-watched it and I love Graham's expression of utter bewilderment at Sony making a good marketing decision :D

You're not kidding. I couldn't cut it for continuity for Friday Nights.

But we're done now! Did you see Feed Dump this week? It's all gone (mostly).

Unless something changed, season 2 of League of Legends has a 5 million dollar prize pool, most likely to shame Valve and DotA 2. Battlefield 3 is streets behind, the solution is always more money! But EA already knows that, don't you EA?
