In other words, you thought she might want to do something else instead of spending time with, so you decided to force "force her hand" be secretly disabling her ability to do so.

Man. You are a winner.

Try again, perhaps this time with English.

I expected this thread to contain one giant relationship.

I was disappointed and relieved all at once.

A topic perhaps: Pet names?

I keep wanting to call my lady Muffin, because it suits her oh-so-much (references, mostly), but she says she'd prefer a more awesome nickname.

I go with dorkbutt, but I'll call most of my friends that, too. I'm not the best at naming.

Awesome-Muffin?

Failing that: Stormageddon, Misty, any cool nickname based on hair colour (e.g. Red), my little deathrap, or MovieBob

I call aubergine Deerest/Deer (because I like to misspell), but generally only in private since it only has most meaning in text.

My newly dating friends keep on calling each other "honey" and "sweetie" all the time and it makes me want to slap them. It's been like 2 weeks.
I can put my hands in my head, and I can laugh it in the face.

There is a story told of a married couple well in their 80s. Every time the husband spoke to his wife he would call her "darling". No matter what the conversation or question he would always refer to his wife as "darling". One day a young lady was sitting next to them on the bus and she overheard their conversation and how he would keep calling her "darling".

"It's so nice to see that even after all the years you've been together, your affection for her is still so deep that you call her darling," she said to the husband.

The husband smiled at her, leaned over and whispered to her, "Actually I forgot her name ten years ago."

Just thought I'd throw that in there.

This could go in the Sex Thread or here, but what the heck...

I think I'm far too nice for my own good. Since coming to uni I've got two girls into bed but NOT had sex with them because

a) they were quite drunk and I wasn't prepared to risk anything, and

b) she was a virgin (but neglected to tell me until we were in bed) and I wasn't going to take someone's v-card on a one-night-thing, even though she did say at one point "let's get it over with" (to which I should hasten to add, I told her that that was the wrong attitude to take). Might meet lady B again. We shall see

WBAGNR,you did the sensible thing.

Both morally and legally. For one, I've heard of cases where men have gone to prison after having sex with a drunk girl. If a woman is not in full control of her faculties at the time, it can (in certain cases) be technically classed as sexual assault. For two, sticking to your principles is a good thing. You'd rather be known as the guy who turned down a drunk girl than the guy who took advantage of one.

As for being the terminal nice-guy... I feel your pain. You just have to trust that karma will eventually sort you out.

Though it may seem counter to media stereotypes, women tend to prefer a guy who is actually nice, rather than the jerk. So long as you don't compromise advances where you feel you should advance (all other factors considered, of course), being nice is always a boon.

I call my husband sweetie, sweetie-pie or Seanie-bear (when I use pet names at all, that is. I also call him Sean often). Very rarely I call him honey.
He calls me honey or honey bunny.

I didn't really use pet names at all before being with him, but now I use "sweetie" for friends and stuff too every so often, I've become much more affectionate since being with him. It's a bit weird, but in a nice way, because I enjoy it.

Is that last one a reference to the Blues Brothers? Or whoever the original artist was that they covered, anyway.

I call Dreamer "lovey" most of the time in public and a lot online too because it sounds like "Levi" and I can be all inconspicuously mooshy with it. At least around strangers, since that isn't actually his name, but y'know.

Muhahahaha covert moosh! :>

@WBAGNR I am proud to call you the sexless innkeeper.

Meanwhile my love-life continues to be largely non-existent without the presence of alcohol. My life is in a fantastic place right now.

The funny thing is, it turns out that girl 'a' is basically a slut, but rationalises not being so by saying that if she doesn't sleep with guys, she can't be a slut- even if she goes to bed with them. Plus, she had like a double vodka and redbull before we left. Thought she did ask for break and water whilst at my place. Anyway, I'm glad I didn't do anything with her.

Girl B is more interesting. Se lives across the hall from one my best mates-at-uni's girlfriends, so I may see her a fair bit/have an excuse to see her. However, she hasn't accepted my friend request on facebook yet, so maybe she isn't interested. Despite that, she was very thankful (at the time) that I didn't try to force her into having sex, and actually talked about how she might have been feeling, how I had been through similar, and how, although no-one really gives a shit whether you're a virgin or not, losing it for the sake of losing it is NOT the way to go.

So yeah...that's about it really.

Really? Is that how kids these days are doing it? That's the measure they're using? I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or like this.

She accepted (the friend request, that is)- we chatted by text a little yesterday. Quite like being single at uni, therefore not rushing into anything I don't need to.

Also, Tycherin, that exact thought went through my head when posting, but I continued nonetheless.

Not sure if this link has been posted yet, but a friend of mine started a relationship advice blog, and almost every time he posts, I almost always agree with what he's saying. It's aimed towards geeky hetero people, and you can check it out here: Paging Doctor Nerdlove

In other news, my boyfriend and I are coming up on our 1 year anniversary on December 15. We've been living together since last July, and things are going quite well. He's met both my parents, I've met one of his, but due to his being divorced once, he's a little gun-shy about getting married again. (For the record, he's 7 years younger than me, and I'm probably one of the oldest people on this forum.) But things are going quite well, and I'm really looking forward to meeting his dad this winter.
