Hobbit Trailer

From the look of the trailer the Hobbit maintains the look and feel of LOTR. 12 months is too long to wait.

I wonder if it will be in the theme of the lotr? cause the hobbit has a very different tone as a book.

Regardless they are gonna go there and back again.

I'm disappointed at what they chose for the sub-title. There and Back Again is much better than An Unexpected Journey.

I'm also wondering what parts of the story they're cutting out. It seems like they are going to emphasize on Bilbo finding the ring and they have to do the troll bit in the beginning. But what of going down the waterfall in the barrels to escape from the forest elves?

I just looked at the cast list and saw that they didn't cut Beorn! I'll wager this will be better than the LotR movies. I liked the Hobbit book better than LotR books.

I dont know how they are going to hit all the points in a two and a half hour movie.

Meeting dwarfs, Time to go there!

trolls, rivendell, passing misty mountains, goblins, Gollum, Ring, Eagles, Beorn, Mirkwood w/spiders, wood elves w/barrel, laketown, Sneaking in, smaug gets pissed, smaug gets shot, bilbo steals the arkenstone, allies want money, here come the dwarves, bilbo no longer a dwarf, allies gonna fight, allies join together, Bilbo a good dwarf, thorin dies,

Bilbo goes back again.

They're actually going to be splitting it into two films; An Unexpected Journey, and There and Back Again.

Very much excited. The only thing I didn't like about the trailer was that, in their effort to get in all the names of the 13 dwarves, they kind of all ran together. By the end, it sounded like Gandalf had some sort of stroke and was babbling incoherently.

To be fair, I kind of thought the same thing about Tolkien when I read that passage.

I hope they're able to make The Hobbit a bit more lighthearted than LotR was. The dark, gritty scenery and tone worked really well for LotR, but The Hobbit needs lots of joy and cheer. It's an Adventure, not a Quest, if you know what I mean.

Regardless, I'm sure it'll be great.

Really excited about this. Not just because James Nesbitt's in it.

Having watched some production diary videos, I can say that they ARE doing the barrels down a waterfall bit. Not sure on the overall tone of the movie though :/

The first thing they did was film the barrel scenes they shoved 47 actors over the falls in barrels the 12 winners didnt drown and got the parts as the dwarfs ;)

You guys know he made all of Hobbiton--even the parts that will never show up in the film--because he wanted to be accurate? I think this movie's in good hands.

I believe they would have had to rebuilt Hobbiton because they were renting part of a farm.

Unfortunately, the pre production team was looking at the plans upside down. They are a Hollywood crew so when they got to New Zealand they thought "oh other side of the world, flip it" So in order to watch the film correctly one must stand on ones head for the first 41 minutes.

I don't think I have enough money to see this 13 times in the theatre. Damn :(
