Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
I've made potato pizza myself; it's good, but it's not that good. Not as good as Serious Pie's, is what I'm saying.

Alas, unless you have a stone built wood fired pizza oven of your own, it's hard to make really good pizza at home.

Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
My goal to exercise enough that I can eat as many carbohydrates as I want.
I am eating leftover beans and rice that I made earlier this week.
To make it I:
Sauté onions, garlic and capsicums (Bell pepper - bell peppers and chillies are Capsicum annuum, black pepper is Piper nigrum.)
Add black beans, water, copious amounts of Cajun seasoning, a dash of sugar and tomatoes
Simmer until done or too hunger
Serve on rice.

We are all made of star dust. However we are also made of nuclear waste.

...as someone who knows very little about cooking, this conversation is beginning to sound very weird.
Isn't a mandolin, like, an instrument?

It can be used as a musical instrument, as it can elicit different pitched screams by slicing different parts of your fingers off using it.

that cant happen, it comes with a safety grip, which I saw when I opened the package, it must be someplace.
Other than on one episode of good eats when he was demonstrating how to use the guard, I have never seen one used.

Bah... I much prefer the mail glove he used that was made out of the same stuff they make shark-proof wetsuits with.

Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
So last night I had Duckay, who is vegetarian, over. So it was time for me to try and make veggie foods. So, we began with veggies.
Soften 'em up.
Adding in tomatoes, along with spices.
Smile at camera.
Add in lentils, simmer until it reduces to a nice thick sauce, stir through spaghetti; serve with feta crumbled on top and salad on side.

As a vegetarian myself, that looks very nice! (Except for the carrots... Dislike carrots.)
I usually cook with Quorn or Falafel.

Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
I don't dislike Quorn or falafel, but for something like a pasta dish, I'd much rather use something like lentils or beans.
Falafel is great for patties, though, and Quorn is good for non-meat "sausage" rolls and stuff. I know they do a "mince" as well, but I'm not wild about it.

Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
Quorn can be rather dry if you don't use more oil. But can become 'soggy' quickly.
Something that can work well with pasta is crushed soaked wallnuts.

Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
I sometimes make a pasta when I camp that is sundried tomatoes and walnuts with Parmesan mixed through noodles.
...it's good.
