I wonder how much I have spent wandering around Wikipedia.

I hate when people refer to the left and right lobes of the brain as left and right brain.

Clearly he's just gone to the effort to record it all in a spreadsheet.
Clearly, that's much more than I'm willing to do.

Yeah! I even trawl Wikipedia and read up on things while I'm in class! I'm sacrificing my education for the pursuit of knowledge!
Who's the academic now, huh?
...
I kid, of course. Though I do actually read in class. Like about cephalopods. Cephalopods are awesome.

Learning is great. It's always worth doing! And this isn't all as big as it may seem, it's super doable! I recommend checking out lectures on iTunes U. Great and interesting stuff all over. And a bit easier to learn from than Wikipedia. Although I've gotta say, it's also a pretty great way to wander around cool information.

Nothing you can't find interesting? Somebody send this man some Vogon poetry to deconstruct.

I dont know if you can count "getting kidnapped by my friends and tied to a chair" for 24 strait hours, as a 1 hour learning experience in bondage.

Oh, I'm sure one of them's already done it. Weren't me, but I know a few who might've.

Well, to be honest, I have considered working with a few friends and learning to escape bonds. Just like, tie up or duct tape wrists/legs, and practice escaping from them. Inspiration recently being from Jim Butcher's Dresden books.
Wouldn't record it as a learning hour though. Just a fun talent to pick up.

This was quite an interesting read! Last thing I learned was Five-Finger Fillet. Nicked my fingers a few times and ended up with a book full of holes. You never know! Might save my life one day!

Anyone who kidnapped me and had me tied to a chair for 24 hours wouldn't be my friend, and they certainly wouldn't be after the 24 hours.

I fear you're heading quite in the wrong direction along the friend-enemy scale there, Hosk.
Re: DancingFox: Making the rest of us look bad
That sounds pretty awesome. I'm the kind of person who's interested in lots of stuff, but as soon as I get too deep into them, I enjoy it less because I think more about all the other stuff I could be learning. I could try something like this.
Although not after midnight, I'm not up then. I'd do it in the middle of the day or something.
The problem remains that a lot of things I'm interested in would take too long. Like if I pick one of the languages on my list, an hour per day would still take months before I have enough knowledge of it for it to be useful.
Would anyone here be interested in some kind of group thing? It might be easier to learn together. Plus we can start with one person teaching something they know to the others once a week or something, that could be pretty cool.

Re: DancingFox: Making the rest of us look bad
I don't do it consistently after midnight! That's only if I've managed to not get around to it. I prefer to do it earlier whenever I can, but sometimes it ends up being late and it's not done.
And I totally would be in support of such a mass learny project. It works extra well with languages, to learn with others.
