You will not dull my complaining with such trivial matters as "Facts" and "Logic".

Funny, "The Void of Doom Booties" is the title of the post-apocalyptic fembot porn movie I'm shooting.

Oh, is it based on the classic Robert A. Heinlein sci-fi novel of the same name? Perhaps my German Electro-Punk band could do the soundtrack.

On second viewing, Paul is behaving EXACTLY as I did when I was first introduced to Magic. Except that the guy who introduced me took me to a competitive tournament and registered me for my first game.

Yeah.

I guess it helped me get used to the experience of being beaten into the ground, although being beaten entirely with lands was just outright insulting. :P

Entirely with lands? Did you foul out or something? Or was it you who had nothing but lands?

Okay, I get the other titles, but why is Jer "Waterfowl"?

Also, I want an "Evil Porpoises" shirt.

Okay so another question. What does the tiny text say under Graham and Matt's name cards during the "exhibition"?

To give credit where it's due:

Dared00 wrote:If anyone wants to know, here are the captions under Graham and Matt's names when they are commenting the match:

Graham Stark - Is here because promised pie (I'm not sure about this)
Matthew Wiggins - Really has no idea what's he's talking about (I'm pretty sure about this)

And I pretty much agree with what is speculated here. But wow, yeah, hard to read.

Those are correct, and all credit to James for writing those up.

I just showed this to all the Magic players at the Student Union earlier today. Many cries of 'ohmygod, I DO THAT' were heard.

Even the whole booster-picking-ritual thing, complete with rather disturbing diddling?

It's exaggerated, sure, but I know several players who have some kind of booster-picking preferences which border on superstitions, and one who kisses every packet for luck before opening it. It's not that uncommon, though certainly in no way universal.

The Evil Porpoises shirt is available from The Escapist store
http://www.splitreason.com/theescapist

For some reason they have hidden the store link in the footer with the new site design, but they are still for sale.

Booster picking rituals, yes. Diddling, well... That's their business.

I've never picked a booster in my entire life. Any store I've been to had them behind the counter so I'd just ask for whatever number I wanted and they handed it to me.
And recently I stopped buying them in stores anyways as it's cheaper online.

And for drafts we usually all sit and the guy who buys the box passes three boosters at a time and we pass them over until everyone has had their three.

I have never seen anyone actually do a pick ritual but the store I was at says they refill the box after every purchase for people who have one.

What? Packets from separate boxes, all mixed up? How are everyone's systems supposed to work when you perform heresy like that?

Ok, I have read through the whole thread, and I seem to be the first person to point out that it is a little odd that a video called "Friday Nights" comes out on a Thursday :?:.

Anywho, I think that this was the right balance of 'advertainment', ie, it was entertaining, but also showed the fun to be had in playing the game.

Sooo. Anyone know where I can get some booster packs?

Most places that sell other sorts of games. Game shops, toy stores, comic shops. Also, they release it Thursday evening so people can watch it on Friday.

And of course if you have work or school during the day you can watch it when you get home. So you watch Friday Nights on Friday Nights.

Loading Ready Run is Based in Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, in CANADA. Canada outlawed Thursdays in 1879 after discovering that more people were mauled by beavers on that day than any other day. They now have Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Friday Friday Saturday.

Since then the beaver population, which survived primarily on a diet of Spam and Canadian flesh, has slowly dwindled. Recent anti-spam legislation thrilled pro-Thursday supporters, who still practice the act of Thursdays hidden from the eyes of police and beavers alike, until they learned the laws were targeting electronic mail and not the meat product.

Still there is some hope that Canadians might one day rename a day of the week after a Norse god, although there is controversy on which god. But as long as the beaver threat looms deep within the rivers and forests of the frozen north, that day won't be anytime soon.

Yes, there was the movement to rename Thursday Skírnirday but the message never did get through.

So that it's completely online for Fridays everywhere.

If we posted it midday Friday our time, that's approaching evening Eastern time. Not so good.
