Who blames LRR for the MTG addiction?

Postby DericWadleigh » 29 Mar 2012, 20:15

Who of you out there have been sucked into this endless money sponge known as MTG because of LRR? I know I have and it's been a painfully wonderful experience.

CURSE YOU GRAHAM! CURSE YOU AND YOUR ABILITY TO MAKE GAMES LOOK FUN!

Literally, I started playing Magic because I was tired of missing all the references in LRR videos.

Edit: Also, I play a modern that has four ornithopters and four prototype portals. FEAR MY ENDLESS ORNITHOPTER ONSLAUGHT! Seriously, I've had +20 6/8 ornithopters on the field before because of three tempered steels. Fear it. Fear it a lot. Unless you have a judgement, in which case I fart in your general direction!

I've been playing forever, and have the Force of Wills and ABUR Dual Lands to prove it.

I definitely started following MtG again after It's Magic came out (previously I'd played it back in high school... mostly from cards I'd been given at various points, I think the only cards I ever actually bought was a Portal set, and that was shortly before I gave it up). And that eventually lead into me playing the game again.

I got my first deck after watching It's Magic, and then several of my friends picked it up after they tried playing against me with a friend's horribly outdated decks from the late 90s.

I was already into MtG, but there are other things I can blame LRR for.

LRR... *shakes fist*

I don't, I returned to MTG slightly before I discovered LRR. I blame them for making me start working on a blog about budget decks though.

Meh, if anyone would be to blame I'd blame Wizards for giving LRR the free packs at PAX.

(Not that I could blame LRR, Magic has had its claws in me since Mirrodin)

I was into MTG back with like Rath Block, but quit. Now I'm back because of these bastards.

I had a friend trying to get me into it, but it wasn't until LRR started talking about it in the podcasts all the time that I went out and actually bought a deck.

I was clean for nearly a decade, but LRR made it look so good. I just wanted one booster. I thought I could handle it. Now I'm scraping together spare change just to buy a Bump in the Night to get me through.

This proves it, Graham, I'm taking you to court and suing you for emptying my wallet in the blatant face of awesomeness. You owe me one box, six drafts, and two months of FNM.

I played for a little while at the tail end of Mirrodin and through a lot of Kamigawa, then sold off most of my collection and didn't play for a long while.

Then LRR started making Magic references aplenty whilst my housemates were also getting into it in noob-like fashion. First deck I made was a revision of my Kamigawa ninjas, just to really troll them.

Island, Ornithopter. Whatcha gon' do!

I played between Ice Age and Onslaught, then quit because M:tG is expensive and I'm not really very good at it. I've bought some starter decks of Innistrad and M12 now... >.>

I totally resisted the influence of MtG at our local club until LRR got back into it and started including it in jokes, videos and podcasts.

That said, I do love the infectsies. Poison for the win...

Nope! I've been playing since 7th Edition was new! I gave up for a few years after that because I lost my decks (I was still in elementary school at the time), but I got back in right around when Mirrodin was kicking in. Had a bunch of friends who started playing it, and then I HAD to get in. Interest faded again until my last year in High School where a bunch of DIFFERENT friends got in to it. Built up a really really solid Vampire deck (four Bloodchief Ascension, and a whole host of other things to make you hate discarding your cards), and gave up again the following year because I realized that all of my friends were douchebags. And I've been clean for a few years now! No interest in ever playing again, no sirree! Not a chance! Nobody can make me!

....well ok maybe one booster wouldn't hurt...
What a horrible night to have a curse.

I completely blame LRR for my Magic obsession. Well, and as if that wasn't enough, I thought I'd attend just one Wednesday Night Magic to see what the big deal is and made some amazing friends that way. Curse you, LRR!

I have at least 10 pre built decks and I have not played with them once. I blame LRR.
