Hopefully a bar could be found that isn't absolutely filled to the gills.

May also attempting a North End trip, some time over the weekend, for pizza at the original Pizzeria Regina's (a gazillion times better than those chains around the city) and a pastry run to Mike's Pastry and Modern Pastry. Friends might back out though :/

Maybe I could pitch this to adventurous Runners. Not sure on schedule yet...

Last year everyone was pooped so we went to the one in the lobby of the Westin, which worked out nicely. It wasn't too busy (it was something crazy like 1 AM which quickly became 3 AM because Daylight Saving was that weekend) and we didn't have to go anywhere off-site, which is good because Boston shuts down at midnight.

Mike's Pastry is delicious, but be prepared for insanity. There's always a line. 24/7 it's packed with people and you have to push your way to the front to get a cannoli. It was... totally worth it. :B But... I doubt I'm going to have time to do anything but PAX over the weekend. My schedule is booked. D:

Glad I'm not the only under-21 going. Oh, yeah, also, I'm going to PAX too. It's gonna be my first PAX and my first time seeing LRR in person. I can't tell you how excited I am. I also completely forgot that I was working on a pokemon team for PPL. I should probably get back on that. I'm kind of missing 1-2 pokemon... All the same, it's nice to know that at least one of the Gym Leaders will be easy to find.

How big are the LRR meet-ups usually?

Seems like I'm working night shift (Line Management), so I'll be working 5pm - 3am Friday and Saturday.

Ah well.

So, looking through the thread, I think I noticed someone say they'd be bringing Harry Potter cards. As such, I can't resist bringing some Pokemon decks. Nothing fancy, just some of the premade theme decks featuring the Unova starters. Not sure if anyone will actually be willing to play with me, but it'd be a fun change from all the MtG games I'll be losing.

Is there standard format for Pokemon card decks? Does it have to be sets based around the newest game?

Just curious

More or less, yes. Only cards since a certain release are tournament legal, called the "Modified Format". This is of course because the constantly updated rules eventually cause unbalance and inconsistency. Currently, everything from the HeartGold & SoulSilver set on is legal. On Pokemon TCG Online, these are the only packs you can even get. There is also the "Unlimited Format" which is any card, and apparently only used officially by certain leagues, but never in tournaments. Personally, I've always been more of a collector than a player, though, which is why I'm just bringing theme decks and not a custom-built one.

I'll be at PAX east for sure. I haven't seen a post regarding a meetup this year. Is it hiding in this forum somewhere?

The crew is still deciding, I just hope it doesn't get in the way of something I want to do, but I assume that might be a reason they are still thinking about it.

Good Lord I can't wait til PAX East! I actually had the foresight to take Friday off from work this year! I live within a half mile of the convention center in Southie and can see it year-round from my window, taunting me. This is only my second convention I've been to, the first being last year's PAX East so I'm still trying to figure out how the whole thing works. I'm not particularly active on the forum here, lurking mostly, but I am looking forward to seeing the crew as well as hopefully meeting some of you wonderful folks! I've always got a couple Magic Decks on me, so if you see me, hit me up for a game! See you guys in a couple three days!

Yes we don't want to rush you guys or anything, but I want to plan accordingly, I wanted to do Magic Tournament thingy, but I want to make sure the one I do won't impact meetup time, plus I wanted to get some TF2 in with a bunch a people at a different meetup

Woo, shuttles seem to run back to our somewhat-out-of-the-way hotel until 3am on Friday and Saturday. That's much better than I was expecting. Hoping to get some board game time with folks too at some point :D

Ditto.

I figure the crew is going to be busy/really tired from the extensive traveling they have to do on Thursday, and many people won't have access to internet/twitter on Friday, so I hope they announce a time tonight or tomorrow.
