Kickstarter is taking over video game self-funding. But is there an end to it?

Re: Ep. 50 - There is no bubble
Akaneiro Demon Hunters still doesn't seem as weird as Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ. That was a weird take on the fairy tale.

I still say ancient Greece would make for a good Assassin's Creed setting.
Especially after all the world building that AC2 did, having conversations with a being who I think talked about being worshiped as a Greek god, and collecting paraphernalia of greek/roman mythology for your house.

There's already a creepy version of Little Red Riding Hood. It's called The Path. I have played it. It's creepy.

So question: why was Paul green? I think you have to fix your color corection or something because he had a noticeable green aura around him and reflected in his glasses.
I wonder what your donation bonuses for Professor Pigglesworth would be.

I have to admit, the trampling my dreams line made me think of the Yeats poem and, by extension, Equilibrium. Where was the epic gun-kata battle?

The green is caused by the fact that the gray wall behind him is actually a greenscreen. While the crew does a pretty good job with green-screening these days, without a proper studio setup and lighting, it's damn difficult to get it perfect (though sooner or later, they will get it).

This week's "Paul on the grey" did not key well. Sorry for his weird jaundice.

Re: Ep. 50 - There is no bubble
Just for reference, "akaneiro" is Japanese for the color madder red. So the title becomes "Madder Red Demon Hunters".
("Madder" in this case has nothing to do with anger, but the plant that is used to make a red pigment.)

GameStop probably wouldn't lose much money with this new deal, whether or not it was nationally applied. Sure, there are a lot of games with online passes, but apparently GS already sells them at $47.99 and sometimes with a free pass. So really, this is just making it more obvious.
However, it will affect them if people start buying the new copies over the used+$10 pass, but still, not too much would be affected.

"Assassins Creed moonlanding" and "your dreams are dum" are probably my biggest laughs watching Checkpoint.
Re: Ep. 50 - There is no bubble
I would definitely throw my money at The Fantastic Adventures of Professor Pigglesworth...

Is there any chance the Pigglesworth artwork is available somewhere?

If the game industry really wants to kill gamestop all they have to do is include a code in the box which must be registered online with a email account. If you want to reinstall the game you have to send a email from the registered account to the company to get a new activation code. You have to be connected to the internet for the install but not to play.
To someone who buys the game and wants to reinstall it later its a slight inconvenience. To someone who wants to resell the game to gamestop it means they would have to set up a e-mail account just for that game and include the account and password when they sold it. Which a few people would do but it would REALLY quickly destroy gamestop, like within 2 years.

Consoles can't enforce that, they have to assume that some consoles have no Internet access.

Re: Ep. 50 - There is no bubble
It's a lot more likely (and necessary) that your computer is going to be connected to the Internet. Yes, requiring Internet access at all times is pretty stupid, but for most people who play video games on their computers, their Internet will be up almost all of the time. However, since consoles are (for the most part) solely purchased to play games, which usually don't require online access (except multiplayer, of course), it would make much less sense to require it there.

PCs are far more likely to have Internet access, but any form of remotely invasive DRM is going to hurt sales more than it helps. So many PC gamers just pirate the games anyway.
Besides, if you are a PC gamer with Internet access, chances are you're using Steam anyway.

Re: Ep. 50 - There is no bubble
And yet Steam comes with an offline mode which is useful for when your PC is offline. Besides I would have thought that single player modes shouldn't have to connect to the internet if that's all you're really interested in.
