The Avengers

Postby Digital Dolphin » 04 May 2012, 02:18

If you haven't seen the movie yet, stop reading this and go watch it.

If you HAVE seen the movie already... want to go see it with me again on Sunday? :P

But seriously, that film was amazing. I can't imagine a comic book movie being done better, especially for a movie about a TEAM.

My hat is off to Joss Whedon. That man is a god among film makers.

And now I sleep for 3hrs before a particularly brutal day at work. Good night!

I'm more of a DC person myself but I want to see this. I'm just catching up on the movies that have gone before - so far I've seen Iron Man and Captain America - still need to see Thor, Iron Man 2 and Incredible Hulk.

I need to see Captain America and Thor. Skip the Incredible Hulk. It started off good then quickly devolved into 2 straight hours of HULK SMASH! After an hour of it, I got bored and started fast forwarding. A lot.

Iron Man 2? Just as awesome as the first!

I'm still holding out for a decent Justice League. But for that there would have to be a decent Superman, Wonder Woman and Flash, which doesn't seem to be as easy as it sounds.

Maybe Mr Whedon or Mr Abrams should take the helm on such a project?

I saw this last week, and I've been so hyped about it, and want to see it again. But I've been unable to talk about the movie with American and Canadian friends other than to say "GO SEE THIS MOVIE WHEN IT COMES OUT!"

I'm going to see it in 2D tomorrow... And at a cinema that *didn't crop the top and bottom of the screen*. Joss deliberately framed shots in "Standard Wide-screen", not "Cinemascope" wide-screen.

I almost went to see it last week, but they only had two seats left and we were 4. And now I moved back to a town that only plays dubs, and I hate dubs. So I'll probably have to wait for the DVD, or catch it if I go back to Paris before it stops playing.

Don't skip the Incredible Hulk, it's a solid film all around.

Also, you're watching them out of order. Bad Geoff_B. Bad.

Can we add a spoiler tag to the thread title? I intend to spoil the crap out of this movie.

Until then: I had a great time. It's basically a perfect summer action movie, and Whedon clearly understands the characters.

I strongly recommend seeing Thor, if you care about continuity.

By the same token, IM2 is optional to understand The Avengers.

Watched Thor! Loved it! Tomorrow? Captain America! Something I never liked the idea of but tomorrow might completely change that.

Captain America is one of Marvel's greatest heroes for precisely the reason that he's not the hero you would expect a dude named "Captain America" to be.

I have just learned that the North American prints of the film contain a post-credits stinger (in addition to the Mid-Credits 'Reveal') that we didn't get in the EU.

Can somebody who has seen the North American Print tell what the extra stinger was, because in Denmark we only had the Thanos reveal

I know a TINY amount about Captain America thanks to X-Men and Wolverine's past. But that's about the extent of it. Might stick it on tonight actually. Got some whiskey to finish after all.
