It is illegal in Germany to deny the existance of the Holocaust.
I think Switzerland and Spain also have a similar law.
There is also a throw back law which allows the arrest of anyone suspected of Nazi warcrimes for up to 24 hours without contact to the outside world or some such. But yeah.
Also Germany is the only country in the world I know of, where theres a sub-section in their race hate laws specifically stating that Anti-Semantic material/speeches/words/people. Recieve a slightly longer prison sentance than those of say ummmm someone causing racial haterd against black or white or Asian people. Which I think its kinda funny, cos its racist.
It was really too big:

Certain countries have abandoned the concept of "free speech" to the point that they have enshrined in law the idea that the government can decide which positions cannot be held by 'decent' people and make the perpetuation of such positions a crime punishable by incarceration.
Because obviously if any reasonable and decent person can instantly reject such positions as false, the government needs to step in and ensure it doesn't spread. Right?
It is probably not a coincidence that neoNazism and white supremacist groups are coming back in a big way in Germany. Censorship has a way of increasing the power of the things it tries to destroy.

The train of thought goes like this. Denying the holocaust implies you think there's a conspiracy to perpetuate a falsehood. (That the holocaust is real.) Who would be behind this alleged conspiracy? Jews. Accusing an ethnicity of a vast conspiracy is counted as inciting hatred, which is verboten.The_Russ wrote:ha ha ha! Brilliant! Heard about that guy who "Denied" the Holocaust. And Graham, that is in fact, the old meaning of Banana Republic.
And now I'm curious. Where do we draw the line as what counts legally as bestiality? Could I be charged if I used a leather sex-toy? What about an animal that's stuffed and mounted?

I was a bit disappointed that the article I emailed to Morgan wasn't in there.
And my Haiku.
. . .and now I realize that I will never hear my submission on the whatever thing because the article would be out of date.
That sucks ass.

Holy Poop! (dunno how vulgar we can be on these forums)
Although I LOL'ed at this WT, there were a few stories that gave me pause to say "you gotta friggin kidding about that one!"
Well, I checked on the story about the eye gouging and couldn't believe that such a thing actually happened!

And the guy's defense???
"His lawyer Jean-Pierre Cabanes meanwhile insisted there were extenuating circumstances.
"This is the result of a marriage that was arranged, not chosen," he said, pointing to the gulf separating his client, who came from southern Morocco, and his young wife, who had grown up in France.
Cabanes begged the jury for leniency, claiming his client's action "appeared to stem from a mental illness"."
Extenuating circumstances???
Mental illness???
His head should be sent to someone in a box....
...er ...meaning that his head should be in the box and sent to someone, and not just sent to someone who was in a box...
Great job this week guys!
I swear I get all my news these days from Jon Stewart and Morgan... sheesh!
I saw a few flickers as well, but they weren't too bothersome.
(nice fridge, btw!)
